The CBP Aircraft Mechanic maintains, repairs, and modifies aircraft structures and structural components of moderate difficulty. They maintain and repair aircraft components including, but not limited to, flight controls, engines, hydraulics, pneumatics, fuel systems, and mechanical components. This role involves applying technical knowledge of airframe and power plant systems to determine equipment malfunctions and restore equipment to operational condition. The mechanic will also apply comprehensive technical expertise to solve moderate to complex problems by interpreting technical documentation such as blueprints or manufacturer's manuals. Responsibilities include performing daily, flight line, and hangar maintenance on all assigned aircraft, as well as inspections, corrosion control, troubleshooting, and fault isolation on aircraft systems. The mechanic must furnish their own hand tools, though special tools and test equipment will be provided. Occasional leadership of teams for complex tasks and making entries in aircraft logs and records may be required. Prioritizing workload schedules on assigned projects is essential.
