About The Position

The CBP Aircraft Mechanic maintains, repairs, and modifies aircraft structures and structural components of moderate difficulty. They maintain and repair aircraft components including flight controls, engines, hydraulics, pneumatics, fuel systems, and mechanical components. This role involves applying technical knowledge of airframe and power plant systems to determine equipment malfunctions and restore equipment to operational status. The mechanic will interpret technical documentation such as blueprints or manufacturer's manuals to solve complex problems. Daily, flight line, and hangar maintenance on all assigned aircraft will be performed, including inspections, corrosion control, troubleshooting, and fault isolation on aircraft systems. The position may occasionally lead teams through complex tasks and require entries in aircraft logs and records. The ability to prioritize workload schedules and travel periodically in support of the customer's mission is also necessary.

Requirements

Must be able to obtain and maintain a CBP Background Investigation Suitability clearance.
US Citizenship required to obtain clearance.
High School Diploma or equivalent required.
Must hold a current airframe and power plant mechanic (A&P) certificate.
Must be competent and knowledgeable in the repair and maintenance of airframes, hydraulics, fuel systems, and aircraft engines.
Requires broad knowledge of aircraft sheet metal/structural modification and repair.
Must possess a working knowledge of military and general aviation aircraft airframe and engine logbooks.
Must have basic knowledge of electrical theory.
Must have thorough knowledge of aircraft unique tools such as test equipment, torque wrenches, dial indicators, micrometers, sheet metal brakes and sheers.
Requires working knowledge of technical publications.
Ability to meet required deadlines and maintain necessary workflow.
Ability to read, write, understand and communicate in the English language and follow both verbal and written instruction.
Must be able to read, write, speak and understand English.
The ability to read and write and comprehend/interpret data.

Nice To Haves

Employed as a full-time aircraft mechanic within the past twelve (12) months.
Have 3-5 years of experience working full-time as an aircraft mechanic.

Responsibilities

May occasionally lead teams through more complex aircraft relevant tasks.
May be required to make entries in aircraft logs and records.
Prioritizes workload schedules on assigned projects.
Periodically required to travel in support of the customer's mission.
Follows base, federal and Company procedures for handling and disposal of hazardous waste materials.
Communicates through e-mail and various software applications, especially Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel.
