About The Position

Performs maintenance and repairs on agency aircraft. This role requires a strong understanding of aircraft repair and maintenance procedures, the ability to work autonomously, and strong interpersonal skills. The mechanic will be responsible for structural repairs, modifications, and painting, as well as operating test equipment and participating in test flights to diagnose and repair malfunctions.

Requirements

• At least 18 years of age.
• Must be able to comprehend and communicate fluently in verbal and written English.
• U.S. Citizen or possess a current permanent resident card.
• Clean criminal history; any arrest history will be individually evaluated.
• No illegal drug usage within the last year. Other drug usage will be evaluated on a case by case basis.
• Associate’s degree (A.A. or A.S.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school AND two (2) years’ experience with fixed wing and helicopter maintenance OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• If this posting indicates a degree is required, the following experience will apply in lieu of any degree as follows: Two (2) years of direct experience for an Associate Degree
• Must have Airframe and Powerplant License issued by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).
• Must have a valid Florida driver’s license and attend and successfully complete the agency sponsored Law Enforcement Vehicle Operations (LEVO) Training if assignment includes driving agency vehicle.
• Use of agency vehicle would require appropriate driving history and passing agency biennial driver’s physical exam.
• Must have intermediate knowledge of aircraft repair and maintenance procedures.
• Must have the ability to take initiative and work autonomously with limited supervision.
• Must possess interpersonal skills and be able to establish and maintain working relationships.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.

Nice To Haves

• Experience maintaining and repairing Bell 206/ 407 Models and Cessna 172/182/206/208 Models is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs maintenance and repairs on agency aircraft.
• Performs structural repairs, modifications, and painting on all aircraft.
• Operates test consoles, test equipment, and aircraft controls.
• Observes operation of system components to determine system performance under simulated flight conditions.
• Interprets and analyzes test results to diagnose malfunctions.
• Adjusts, replaces, repairs, and inspects defective components.
• Periodically rides and participates in test flights to observe and collect information for maintenance purposes.
