The Aviation Institute of Maintenance (AIM) is seeking an energetic and mission-driven professional to join its faculty as an Aircraft Mechanic Instructor. This role involves inspiring the next generation of aviation professionals by delivering dynamic, hands-on instruction in aircraft maintenance, bridging theory and practice. The instructor will create an inclusive, engaging classroom environment, collaborate with academic leaders to improve FAA-aligned curriculum, and ensure the lab is organized, safe, and stocked with properly maintained tools and equipment. Key administrative duties include grading, attendance tracking, and regulatory compliance. The instructor will also mentor students, track progress, address retention issues, and participate in professional development and faculty meetings.

Requirements

  • FAA Airframe & Powerplant Mechanic Certificate
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience in aircraft maintenance
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Strong grasp of contemporary aircraft systems and repair practices
  • Effective communication skills with a student-first mindset
  • Organized, tech-savvy, and ready to adapt in a compliance-driven environment
  • Flexibility to work outside scheduled hours as needed

Nice To Haves

  • Associate degree in a related field
  • Experience with CampusNexus or similar student management systems

Responsibilities

  • Deliver dynamic, hands-on instruction in aircraft maintenance that bridges theory and practice.
  • Create an inclusive, engaging classroom environment where students are empowered to succeed.
  • Collaborate with fellow instructors and academic leaders to continuously improve our FAA-aligned curriculum.
  • Keep the lab organized, safe, and stocked with properly maintained tools and equipment.
  • Manage key administrative duties—think grading, attendance tracking, and regulatory compliance—with precision and professionalism.
  • Mentor students, track progress, and proactively address retention issues.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development and instructor evaluations.
  • Support our mission by attending faculty meetings, leading training sessions, and completing education modules.
