Diagnose, adjust, repair, or overhaul aircraft engines and assemblies, such as hydraulic and pneumatic systems. Includes helicopter and aircraft engine specialists. This role performs scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on specific applicable T/M/S aircraft airframe, ordnance, egress/life support system, power plants, corrosion control and painting, and related systems. The mechanic will perform flight line essential services as directed by the daily Flight Schedule. This position involves maintaining, repairing, and modifying aircraft structures, aircraft ordnance systems, egress systems, structural components, and engines of complex to extreme difficulty. It also includes maintaining and repairing aircraft components such as flight controls, engines, hydraulics, aviation ordnance systems, pneumatics, fuel systems, and mechanical components. The role requires applying technical knowledge of airframe, ordnance, and power plant systems to determine equipment malfunctions and restore equipment to operational condition. Routine lifting in excess of OSHA standards is required, and routine ordnance loading will require team lifts of ordnance items up to 167 pounds per team member, in accordance with standard USN procedures. The Aircraft Mechanic III will have the authority to direct Level I or II work center personnel to accomplish specific maintenance actions and provide guidance and technical expertise to lower-level technicians throughout all aircraft modifications and/or maintenance efforts. The role requires applying professional technical expertise and guidance to solve complex problems by interpreting technical data such as blueprints or manufacturers' manuals.
