About The Position

The LUH72 Aircraft Mechanic III/ Lead is responsible for maintaining, repairing, and modifying aircraft structures, structural components and engines of complex to extreme difficulty. This role involves maintaining and repairing aircraft components including flight controls, engines, hydraulics, pneumatics, fuel systems, and mechanical components. The mechanic applies technical knowledge of airframe and power plant systems to determine equipment malfunctions and uses expertise to restore equipment to operational condition. This position also requires applying professional technical expertise and guidance to solve complex problems by interpreting technical data such as blueprints or manufacturer's manuals. A thorough knowledge of aircraft mechanical component troubleshooting/repair procedures, replacement of components, and aircraft sheet metal/structural modification and repair is essential. The ability to determine the functionality of non-complex electrical systems and a detailed knowledge of aircraft unique tools are also required. The role involves providing technical support to structural/mechanical engineers and customers, prioritizing workload to meet aircraft delivery schedules, and making entries in aircraft logs and records. Additionally, the mechanic is responsible for providing guidance and technical expertise to lower-level technicians throughout aircraft modifications and maintenance efforts.

Requirements

Valid up-to-date A&P license
Five (5) years aviation maintenance experience
Five (5) years rotary wing aircraft experience
Two (2) years on the assigned Mission Design Series LUH72 (MDS)
All experience must be within the Ten (10) most recent years.
Must be able to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization.
US Citizenship is required for facility credentials/authorization at this work site.
Must possess own shadowed/etched Tools and Toolbox.
Thorough knowledge of aircraft mechanical component troubleshooting, diagnosing problems, repair procedures and replacement of parts
Broad knowledge of aircraft sheet metal/structural modifications and repair.
Basic knowledge of electrical theory.
Thorough knowledge of aircraft unique tools such as test equipment, torque wrenches, dial indicators, micrometers, sheet metal brakes and sheers.
Working knowledge of making entries in aircraft logbooks & records, military technical publications, and the Army's Unit Level Logistics Aviation Information System, ACN.
Thorough knowledge of aircraft sheet metal and structural modification and repair.
Ability to determine functionality of non-complex electrical systems.
Detailed knowledge of aircraft unique tools such as cable tensiometers.

Responsibilities

Inspect all aircraft assigned.
Proficient in the use of the Government STAMIS used to maintain Army aircraft forms and records.
Plans, conducts, and supervises aircraft technical inspections.
Computes basic weight and balance records.
Participates in maintenance test flights and operation checks as required.
Ensures compliance with aircraft configuration control, Army oil analysis Program, and test measuring diagnostic equipment calibration.
Provides guidance to lower-level technicians in aircraft repair, technical inspection techniques, and procedures according to directives, technical manuals, work standards, and operational policies.
Prepares evaluations, special reports, and records pertaining to aircraft maintenance repair and related activities.
Prioritize workloads and is required to lead teams through more complex aircraft relevant tasks.
Inspect all required aeronautical type maintenance to be performed by Mechanic.
Removes and installs aircraft subsystem assemblies and components such as engines, rotors, transmissions, mechanical flight controls and their components.
Services and lubricates aircraft and subsystems.
Safely prepares aircraft for inspections and maintenance checks and services.
Performs scheduled inspections and assists in performing special inspections.
Performs limited maintenance operational checks and diagnoses and troubleshoots aircraft systems using special tools and test equipment as required.
Uses and performs operator maintenance on tools, special tools and aircraft ground support equipment.
Applies comprehensive technical expertise to solve moderate problems by interpreting technical documentation such as aircraft Technical Manuals, Maintenance Information and Action Messages and all technical guidance provided through government official representatives.
Uses a thorough knowledge of aircraft mechanical component troubleshooting, repair procedures and replacement of parts.
Uses a knowledge of electrical theory and of aircraft unique tools such as test equipment, torque wrenches, dial indicators, micrometers, sheet metal brakes and sheers.
Participates in maintenance test flights and operation checks as required.
Uses a working knowledge of technical publications and the Government STAMIS to make entries in aircraft logs and records.
Receives technical assistance, as required, from higher-level technician.
Must possess the level of experience necessary to inspect all required aeronautical type maintenance to be performed by skill class Mechanic I and must have a combination of experience to repair engines, sheet metal, structural, hydraulic, electrical, power train and general mechanical maintenance of moderate difficulty, required to meet the assigned missions.
