About The Position

ACET is seeking an Aircraft Mechanic III – Lead at our NAS Jacksonville, FL location. This role involves leading a team in aircraft maintenance, inspections, and scheduled/unscheduled maintenance. The position requires extensive technical experience to supervise subordinate mechanics and provide guidance on maintenance operations. The individual will perform, supervise, and inspect the duties of Mechanics I, II, and III. This role maintains, repairs, and modifies aircraft structures, components, and engines of complex to extreme difficulty. Responsibilities include maintaining and repairing aircraft components such as flight controls, engines, hydraulics, pneumatics, fuel systems, and mechanical components. The role applies technical knowledge of airframe and power plant systems to diagnose equipment malfunctions and restore equipment to operational status. The position also involves applying technical expertise to solve complex problems by interpreting technical data like blueprints and manufacturer's manuals. A thorough knowledge of aircraft mechanical component troubleshooting/repair procedures, replacement of components, aircraft sheet metal/structural modifications and repair, and functionality of non-complex electrical systems is required. Detailed knowledge of aircraft-specific tools such as test equipment, torque wrenches, dial indicators, micrometers, cable tensiometers, sheet metal brakes, and sheers is necessary. The role requires providing technical support to structural/mechanical engineers and customers, and excellent organizational skills to meet aircraft delivery schedules. The individual will make entries in aircraft logs and records and provide guidance and technical expertise to lower-level technicians during modifications and maintenance efforts.

Requirements

  • Minimum 10 years of aviation structure maintenance experience.
  • Proficiency in depot-level maintenance procedures and processes.
  • Knowledge of FAA, military, and industry standards.
  • Familiarity with aircraft structures and airframes.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills for technical documentation and team collaboration.
  • 5 years Prior experience on an Air Force Wide-body platform (preferably P-8).
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.

Nice To Haves

  • FAA Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) license or equivalent military certification.
  • Prior service in a military or government aviation maintenance environment.
  • Aircraft Avionics / Electrician Certifications.
  • Past Quality Assurance or QAR Experience.

Responsibilities

  • Applies technical knowledge of airframe and power plants systems in determining equipment malfunctions and applies technical expertise in restoring equipment condition and operation.
  • Applies professional technical expertise and guidance to solve complex problems by interpreting technical data such as blueprints or manufactures’ manuals.
  • Determines functionality on non-complex electrical systems.
  • Provides technical support to structural/mechanical engineers and customers alike.
  • Makes entries in aircraft logs and records.
  • Provides guidance and technical expertise to lower-level technicians throughout all aircraft modifications and/or maintenance efforts.
