About The Position

This role involves performing complex maintenance and troubleshooting on KC-46 aircraft, adhering to all technical orders, Air Force instructions, and site-specific directives. The mechanic will collaborate with other technicians and representatives to resolve challenging maintenance issues, interpret technical diagrams, and utilize test equipment for system analysis. Responsibilities include planning and scheduling aircraft utilization and maintenance, managing parts inventory, assigning and monitoring repair tasks, and overseeing aircraft jacking, lifting, and towing operations. The position requires performing and signing off on aircraft inspections, including safe-for-flight inspections, and conducting various other inspections and maintenance tasks. The mechanic will also be responsible for troubleshooting and repairing electro-mechanical systems, servicing aircraft, and coordinating with Quality Assurance and government representatives for required inspections. Additionally, the role involves attending meetings, providing aircraft status updates, completing documentation accurately, ordering parts through the Air Force supply system, assisting with emergency management programs, operating vehicles on the flightline, notifying the government of aircraft readiness, conducting aircrew debriefs, and providing on-the-job training to junior mechanics. All other position-related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Minimum of eight (8) years working knowledge of aircraft maintenance operations on KC-46 aircraft and/or Current Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Airframe and Powerplant License (A&P).
  • Must have a broad working knowledge of aircraft maintenance, inspection techniques, FAA regulations, and Air Force technical publications.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability combined with attention to detail.
  • Must have knowledge of the scope and limitation of various categories of maintenance and their application.
  • Must have a current state drivers license.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain Secret clearance.
  • U.S. citizenship is required for facility credentials/authorization at this work site.

Responsibilities

  • Adheres to all Technical Orders, GOPs/SOPs, Air Force Instructions, and any other directives identified by Site Management or the PWS
  • Work with other mechanics and technical representatives to trouble shoot, diagnose and solve unusual and complex maintenance problems.
  • Apply logic and good judgment, understand technical order diagrams and procedures, use test equipment for analysis of airframe, engine, flight control, pneudraulic, fuel, electrical/electronic systems, problems.
  • Plan and schedule aircraft utilization and maintenance activity and coordinates performance with operational customer.
  • Maintain accurate parts inventory.
  • Assign maintenance and repair tasks and monitors/evaluates their completion.
  • Oversee and performs aircraft jacking, lifting, and towing operations.
  • Inspects aircraft structures, systems, components, and related systems.
  • Oversee and performs aircraft and component inspections.
  • Interprets inspection findings and determines adequacy of corrective actions.
  • Perform and sign off aircraft safe for flight inspections.
  • Perform launch, recovery, scheduled and unscheduled inspections/maintenance.
  • Preflight/thru flight/BPO inspections, ground handling, minor maintenance, and servicing.
  • Perform routine troubleshooting, installation, repair and maintenance of all electro-mechanical systems and components on the aircraft at the organizational level of maintenance.
  • Services aircraft.
  • Performs end-of-runway, post-flight, preflight, thru-flight, and phase inspections.
  • Troubleshoots and maintains aircraft structures, systems, components, and related equipment.
  • Removes and installs aircraft components.
  • Coordinates with QA and the government to understand which tasks require In Process Inspections (IPIs) and Mandatory Government Inspections (MGIs) and ensures government and/or QA is on-site to perform IPIs and MGIs.
  • Upon request, attend local maintenance production and scheduling meetings, providing aircraft status updates and assisting in scheduling aircraft maintenance activities
  • Completes aircraft forms and maintenance information systems documentation accurately, completing all documentation as soon as practical, but always prior to the end of shift.
  • Orders parts and equipment through the Air Force supply system and ensures supply discipline, categorizing orders in accordance with Air Force parts/supply/equipment urgency designators.
  • Assists in implementing the Base Emergency Management Program.
  • Operates vehicles on the flightline in accordance with local airfield driving requirements.
  • Notifies the government when aircraft are “crew ready” in accordance with timelines prescribed in the PWS.
  • Conducts aircrew debriefs.
  • Assists with providing OJT to Mechanics/Technicians, to include signing off training records.
  • Perform all other position-related duties as assigned.
