Aircraft Mechanic III - Avionics/Electrician
About The Position
This position is awaiting contract award. We are seeking a highly skilled and strategic Aircraft Mechanic III - Avionics/Electrician to serve as a hands-on maintenance team lead. In this senior role, you will supervise subordinate mechanics, direct scheduled and unscheduled maintenance operations, and provide expert technical guidance on the supported airframe. You must possess the advanced technical experience required to perform, supervise, and exercise final inspection authority over work completed by Mechanic I, II, and III team members. Balancing elite technical mastery in avionics/electrical systems with a deep understanding of complex airframe, structural, and powerplant systems, you will ensure our fleet meets absolute mission readiness and delivery schedules.
Requirements
- Must possess or be able to obtain a Department of Defense (DoD) Secret Security Clearance to access the airfield and military installation.
- Proven track record of leading, scheduling, and supervising maintenance crews in a high-tempo military or commercial aviation environment.
- Thorough, comprehensive knowledge of aircraft component troubleshooting, structural repair, and advanced electrical/avionics systems isolation.
- Prior experience or qualification to act as a final inspector over lower-level and peer technicians (Mechanics I–III).
- Demonstrated capability to prioritize fluid workloads, manage hangar-floor resources, and systematically meet production timelines.
- Strong interpersonal skills necessary to provide technical consults to structural engineers, military personnel, or corporate clients.

Responsibilities
- Lead, mentor, and supervise subordinate mechanics through complex maintenance workflows, inspections, and modifications; coordinate daily team tasks to hit strict aircraft delivery schedules.
- Serve as a certifying inspector with authorized sign-off power over the maintenance and repair duties of Mechanic I, II, and III personnel.
- Direct the troubleshooting, repair, modification, and operational testing of complex avionics suites, electronic components, and intricate wiring networks.
- Troubleshoot, repair, and modify aircraft structures, flight controls, structural components, and engines exhibiting complex to extreme technical difficulty.
- Provide dedicated professional technical support to structural/mechanical engineers and external customers, translating complex field issues into actionable engineering inputs.
- Solve highly complex technical anomalies by interpreting advanced technical data, blueprints, electrical schematics, engineering changes, and manufacturer manuals.
- Utilize and train teams on specialized aircraft diagnostic and maintenance tools, including electronics test equipment, cable tensiometers, torque wrenches, dial indicators, micrometers, sheet metal brakes, and shears.
- Enforce rigorous organizational compliance, verify documentation accuracy, and personally make official entries in aircraft logs and records.
