About The Position

The T-38 Aircraft Mechanic III - APG Crew Chief & Rigger is responsible for the maintenance of all aspects of the T-38 aircraft, support equipment, and associated forms and records. This role involves performing crew chief duties, repair and reclamation, quality assurance, maintenance support functions, sortie generation, ground handling, and servicing operations. The mechanic will conduct various aircraft inspections, including preflight, thru-flight, postflight, hourly postflight, special inspections, and isochronal inspections. They will also advise on issues related to the maintenance, servicing, and inspection of aircraft and aerospace equipment, and utilize technical data to diagnose and resolve maintenance problems on aircraft systems.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • 10+ years of tactical Aircraft Maintenance experience with fixed / rotary wing commercial, Government or DOD aircraft.
  • 5+ years T-38 A/B/C experience or equivalent platform.
  • Previous Air Force Specialty Code 2A3X3 Tactical Aircraft Maintenance or 2A5X1 Airlift/Special Mission Aircraft Maintenance experience highly desirable.
  • Multi aspect aviation qualifications / certifications / disciplines and ability to train these skills a must.
  • Experience supporting DoD contracts.
  • Strong knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures within depot level maintenance.
  • Highly knowledgeable in principles applying to T-38 aircraft systems.
  • Extensive knowledge in T-38 theory of aircraft flight, hydraulic principles, aircraft electrical concepts, and servicing concepts.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as engineering drawings, technical documentation, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Strong decision analysis and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to draw conclusions and justify decisions.
  • Must be able to communicate issues to management.
  • Highly proficient in T-38 aircraft safety and servicing processes.
  • Knowledgeable in Air Force aircraft form, Technical Order system, supply procedures, and deficiency reporting procedures.
  • Intermediate computer skills specifically using Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to learn additional computer skills or software programs.
  • Ability to enter data accurately into databases and write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Interpersonal skills are necessary to work effectively and cooperatively with all levels of management and staff.
  • Must possess effective oral and technical written communication skills to clearly communicate information to others.
  • Ability to use general office equipment such as fax, phone, copier, scanner, printers, etc.
  • Ability to follow processes.
  • Strong professional customer service skills, including active listening, prompt service and follow-up.
  • Ability to learn and understand corporate policies and procedures and how they relate to Yulista goals.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical computations.
  • High degree of self-motivation and the ability to work independently.

Responsibilities

  • Inspects, troubleshoots, and maintains aircraft structures, engines, hydraulic, and other related systems, components, and equipment.
  • Supervises and assists in launching and recovering aircraft.
  • Removes and installs T-38 aircraft assemblies, engines, and engine components.
  • Conducts operational checks and repairs/replaces damaged components and systems.
  • Performs T-38 ground engine operations.
  • Adjusts, aligns, and rigs aircraft control systems.
  • Accomplishes aircraft weight and balance functions.
  • Supervises and performs T-38 aircraft jacking, lifting, mooring, and towing operations.
  • Interprets inspection findings and determines the adequacy of corrective actions.
  • Inspects and checks components for clearances, tolerances, proper installation, and operation.
  • Inspects and identifies aircraft corrosion for prevention and repair.
  • Reviews maintenance data collection summaries to determine trends and production effectiveness.
  • Performs crash recovery duties.
  • Reviews maintenance forms, aircraft records, automated maintenance data systems, and historical reports to ensure complete documentation.
  • Performs pre-use inspections and operates powered and non-powered aerospace ground equipment.
  • Inventories and maintains aircraft mission equipment.
  • May be required to perform entry and maintenance tasks in confined spaces.
  • Recommends methods to improve equipment performance and maintenance procedures.
  • Uses automated maintenance systems.
  • Inputs, validates, and analyzes data processed to automated systems.
  • Inspects, clears, and closes out completed maintenance discrepancies in automated maintenance systems.
  • Documents maintenance as per Quality Assurance (QA) and established regulatory requirements.
  • Stores, handles, and disposes of hazardous waste and materials according to environmental standards and company processes.
  • Inventories and maintains alternate mission equipment.
  • Inventories and maintains aircraft equipment.
  • Uses automated maintenance systems to monitor maintenance trends, analyze equipment requirements, maintain equipment records, document maintenance actions, and manage time change databases.
  • Performs regular Foreign Object Damage (FOD) walks.
  • Maintains strict tool control procedures.
  • Reports missing, lost, found, or unattended tools to the supervisor.
  • Inventories and inspects tools on a regular basis and replaces worn or broken tools.
  • Complies with safety rules and regulations while performing day-to-day maintenance.
  • Promptly reports all accidents, injuries, safety violations, and/or unsafe practices or procedures to the supervisor.
  • Maintains equipment records.
  • Enters the description of work performed into maintenance records and verifies satisfactory completion.
  • Performs other related duties to meet the ongoing needs of the organization.
