About The Position

This position augments Air Force military personnel in modifying, maintaining, inspecting, controlling corrosion, overhauling, repairing, regenerating, and storing various weapon systems, related components, missiles, engines, ground support equipment, and vehicles. The role involves performing maintenance, repair, overhaul, and modification of aircraft structures and mechanical systems of moderate to high complexity, including flight controls, engines, hydraulics, pneumatics, fuel systems, guns, hydrazine, batteries, hydrostats, and associated mechanical components. The mechanic will apply technical knowledge to diagnose malfunctions, determine corrective actions, and restore equipment to proper operating condition by interpreting technical documentation such as blueprints, engineering drawings, and manufacturer manuals. This role requires proficiency in aircraft-specific tools and maintaining accurate aircraft logs and records.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • A minimum of 4 years related experience.
  • Possess the technical knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform maintenance, repair, overhaul, and modification of aircraft structures and mechanical systems of moderate to high complexity.
  • Possess the technical knowledge of airframe and power plant systems to diagnose malfunctions, determine corrective actions, and restore equipment to proper operating condition while interpreting technical documentation such as blueprints, engineering drawings, and manufacturer manuals.
  • Experience in aircraft mechanical troubleshooting, sheet metal repair, structural modification, component replacement, and basic electrical theory.
  • Experience using aircraft-specific tools including test equipment, torque wrenches, dial indicators, micrometers, sheet metal brakes, and shears.
  • Experience maintaining working knowledge of applicable technical publications and the ability to make accurate entries in aircraft logs and records.
  • Prior experience supporting repair and overhaul of landing gear, fuel tanks, pylons, screw jacks, hydraulics, and pneudraulics across multiple aircraft platforms including, but not limited to, C-5, C-17, C-130, B-1B, B-2, B-52, KC-135, A-10, T-38, E-2, E-3, F-4, F-15, F-16, F-22, F-35, MH-53, and MH-60.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a favorable T1 background investigation and Secret security clearance as required.
  • Must successfully pass post-offer, pre-employment substance abuse testing.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain working knowledge of applicable technical publications and make accurate entries in aircraft logs and records when required.
  • Support repair and overhaul of landing gear, fuel tanks, pylons, screw jacks, hydraulics, and pneudraulics across multiple aircraft platforms.
  • Receive technical guidance from government supervisors or senior technicians as necessary.
  • Prioritize workload effectively to meet established schedules and project deadlines.
  • Other duties as assigned.
