Aircraft Mechanic II (SMM) personnel shall perform a full range of aircraft sheet metal duties including, but not limited to, disassemble, modify, repair, and reassemble complex aircraft metal items and systems, e.g., bulkheads, airframes, spars, air scoops, wings, flaps, pylons, sponsons, fuselages, skins, ribs, gussets, and fuel tanks. These items and systems have combined straight and curved edges and irregular curves and planes.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum experience or military experience as aircraft airframes or sheet metal mechanic
  • Security Clearance
  • U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position will require the ability to access US only data system
  • Must be a US Citizen
  • Must be able to pass a NACI which could include a credit check
  • Maintain a drug-free workplace and perform post offer, pre-employment substance abuse testing
  • Possess both analytical and interpersonal skills
  • Good problem solving, negotiation and organizational skills/techniques
  • Working knowledge with computer
  • Working knowledge with Advance Skill Management (ASM) or willing to learn the functions
  • English language skills to communicate with costumers

Responsibilities

  • Perform a full range of aircraft sheet metal duties including, but not limited to, disassemble, modify, repair, and reassemble complex aircraft metal items and systems, e.g., bulkheads, airframes, spars, air scoops, wings, flaps, pylons, sponsons, fuselages, skins, ribs, gussets, and fuel tanks.
  • Analyze and evaluate structural damage to metal systems and items.
  • Develop patterns using a combination of parallel and radial line development.
  • Fabricate, install, and repair a variety of items and systems made from a wide variety of metals, e.g., stainless steel, copper sheet, magnesium, honeycomb, alloys, aluminum.
  • Replace sections and patch old systems.
  • Cut, bend, shape, and form metals for items that have numerous irregular angles, planes, and curves with varying pitch and circumference.
  • Use a variety of assembly joints, complex fastening systems, riveted or welded joints, drill or punch holes.
  • Assemble or repair items by seaming, soldering, bolting, screwing, riveting, tacking, and spot welding.
  • Use precision measuring instruments such as calipers, protractors, snap ring, height, depth, dial and screw pitch gauges, squares, rulers, trammel points, and sine bars.
  • Perform all duties associated with aircraft sheet metal support on H-60 or H-53 Naval Type Model Series aircraft.
  • Maintain, repair, and modify aircraft structures and structural components of moderate to complex difficulty, including but not limited to flight controls, engines, hydraulics, pneumatic, fuel systems and mechanical components.
  • Apply technical knowledge of airframe and power plant systems in determining equipment malfunctions and discrepancies.
  • Apply required expertise in restoring aircraft component condition and or operation.
  • Apply comprehensive technical expertise to solve moderate to complex problems by interpreting technical documentation such as blueprints, sketches, drawings, specifications, Local Engineering Instructions, and work orders in manufacturing aircraft sheet metal structures.
  • Manufacture and install new parts and reinforcing, patching, and replacing defective parts, apply accurate riveting techniques for proper spacing, fit, durability, structural soundness, and appearance.
  • Comply with all required trainings and other administrative functions required by the company and the costumer.
  • Assist in maintaining NAMP Programs, ensure contract artisans follows Ground Operating Procedures, and ensure personnel comply with safety procedures.
