About The Position

The Aircraft Mechanic II (Avionics) position requires a skilled individual to perform a combination of experience in repairing engines, sheet metal, structural, hydraulic, electrical, power train, and general mechanical maintenance of moderate difficulty. This role involves providing input to Maintenance Engineering Changes (MEC) and Estimated Cost of Damage (ECOD) preparation, and assisting in recommending changes to Maintenance Work Orders (MWO). The individual must be able to prioritize workloads and lead teams through complex aircraft-related tasks. This mechanic maintains, repairs, and modifies aircraft structures and components, including flight controls, engines, hydraulics, pneumatics, fuel systems, and mechanical components. They apply technical knowledge to diagnose and resolve equipment malfunctions, using blueprints and manufacturer manuals. A thorough knowledge of aircraft mechanical component troubleshooting, repair procedures, and parts replacement is essential, along with broad knowledge of sheet metal/structural modifications and repair. Basic knowledge of electrical theory and unique aircraft tools (test equipment, torque wrenches, dial indicators, micrometers, sheet metal brakes and sheers) is required. The role also requires working knowledge of technical publications, occasional leadership of complex tasks, and the ability to make entries in aircraft logs and records. Specialization in sheet-metal, electrical work, avionics, or other aircraft systems may be required. The Aircraft Mechanic II is equivalent to a Marine Corps Collateral Duty Quality Assurance Representative.

Requirements

Minimum of three years aircraft maintenance experience.
Previously Collateral Duty Quality Assurance Representative (CDQAR) for Avionics Systems.
Aircraft Corrosion Control (N-701-0013) certification.
Must be eligible for Common Access Card (CAC).
Avionics System Technicians must have Secret Clearance.
Must be deployable to locations Outside Continental U.S. (OCONUS).
Respirator fit qualified.
Aircraft Corrosion Control (N-701-0013) certification.
Aircraft tow qualifications or equivalent.
Experience with aircraft avionics maintenance.
Ability to troubleshoot malfunctions in various aircraft systems.
Ability to perform general Organizational Level maintenance.
Knowledgeable of technical directives, NAMP programs.
Knowledgeable of and understand basic supply procedures.
Ability to write with clarity and technical accuracy.
Exhibit leadership and ensure adherence to all applicable policies and procedures.
Possess a high degree of expertise in the control and coordination of aircraft maintenance.
Thorough working knowledge of applicable maintenance/technical manuals and publications.
Thorough working knowledge of aircraft maintenance records.
Working understanding of the aircraft and aircraft systems.

Nice To Haves

10 years or more of Organizational level maintenance.
5 years or more maintenance experience on KC-130J aircraft.
NALCOMIS OOMA Familiarization/Naval Aviation Maintenance Control Management Course (Course D/E-555-0053 OR A COMBINATION OF NALCOMIS OOMA Familiarization Course (Course D/E-555-0054) and Naval Aviation Maintenance Control Course (Course D/E-555-0040)).
Previously Safe For Flight certified.
Qualified as Vibration Analysis Operator/Interpreter.
Tire and Wheel certified.
Hydraulic Contamination.
APU Operator.
Aircraft Tow qualifications as wing walker, Tow Supervisor, and driver.
Aircraft paint and final finish.

Responsibilities

Perform diagnosis and corrective actions, disassemble, inspect, evaluate, and accomplish necessary repairs.
Lay out work according to technical instructions and technical directives.
Determine required repairs, modifications, and part replacements.
Verify work performed by another for which they are qualified to perform.
Perform Aircraft Organizational Level (O-Level) Maintenance Support, General Aircraft Maintenance, Corrosion Prevention, Detection, and Abatement/Repair as required for KC-130J aircraft.
Maintain assigned aircraft/aeronautical equipment in a manner that meets or exceeds the requirements of the CNAFINST 4790.2 (series) programs IAW the Performance Work Statement (PWS).
Provide Scheduled and unscheduled Organizational (O-Level) Maintenance Support.
Engage in Maintenance Control planning and management.
Perform Aircraft maintenance action documentation via records, forms, and electronic means.
Operate and inspect Support Equipment.
Perform Aircraft inspections.
Perform Aircraft Movement.
Conduct Corrosion Control/Aircraft Painting.
Perform Troubleshooting.
Perform Preservation and de-preservation.
Perform General aircraft maintenance.
Ensure Technical Directive compliance and modifications.
Initiate and Complete Maintenance Action Forms via Optimized Organizational Maintenance Activity (OOMA) or hard copy.
Perform duties as Collateral Duty Inspector (CDI) for Avionics Systems.
Operate and interpret Vibration Analysis.
Perform Tire and Wheel maintenance.
Manage Hydraulic Contamination.
Operate APUs.
Perform general housekeeping and organization of workstation(s), shop(s), maintenance facility to provide a clean, safe, and FOD free environment.
Perform other duties as assigned.
