About The Position

ACET is seeking an Aircraft Mechanic II - APG Crew Chief at our Fairchild AFB WA location. This role requires a combination of experience in repairing engines, sheet metal, and structural, hydraulic, electrical, power train, and general mechanical maintenance of moderate difficulty to meet assigned missions. The position also involves providing input to Maintenance Engineering Changes (MEC), preparing Estimated Cost of Damage (ECOD), and assisting in the recommendation of modifications (MWO). Individuals must be able to prioritize workloads and lead teams through more complex relevant tasks. Mechanic IIs can inspect Mechanic IIs and Is. This mechanic maintains, repairs, and modifies aircraft structures and structural components of moderate difficulty. They also maintain and repair aircraft components including, but not limited to, flight controls, engines, hydraulics, pneumatics, fuel systems, and mechanical components. The role applies technical knowledge of airframe and power plant systems to determine equipment malfunctions and uses expertise to restore equipment condition and/or operation. Additionally, it involves applying comprehensive technical expertise to solve moderate to complex problems by interpreting technical documentation such as blueprints or manufacturer’s manuals.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years’ aviation experience
  • Minimum of 3 years rotary wing aviation experience.
  • 3 years Prior experience on an Air Force Wide-body platform (preferably KC135)
  • High school diploma or equivalent General Educational Development (GED) certificate
  • U.S Citizen and must pass a background check and be able to obtain and maintain a Common access card (CAC).
  • Must be able to meet any Government/Company licensing/qualification requirements for the position.
  • Must have knowledge of the proper use of hand tools in aircraft maintenance.
  • Demonstrate an operational knowledge of aircraft, aircraft systems, engines and component parts.
  • Able to read and write, and interpret and comply with aircraft maintenance procedures, manuals, specifications, and directives, guides and forms used on the job.
  • Must be able to read and interpret complex engineering drawings, technical manuals, and use measuring instruments, gauges, tools, and test equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and repair aircraft components including but not limited to flight controls, engines, hydraulics, pneumatics, fuel systems and mechanical components.
  • Apply technical knowledge of airframe and power plant systems in determining equipment malfunctions and applies required expertise in restoring equipment condition and or operation.
  • Apply comprehensive technical expertise to solve moderate to complex problems by interpreting technical documentation such as blueprints or manufacture’s manuals.
  • Troubleshoot, repair, and replace parts on aircraft mechanical components.
  • Perform aircraft sheet metal/structural modifications and repair.
  • Apply basic knowledge of electrical theory.
  • Utilize aircraft unique tools such as test equipment, torque wrenches, dial indicators, micrometers, sheet metal breaks and sheers.
  • Work with technical publications.
  • Receive technical guidance, as required, from supervisor or higher-level technician.
  • Occasionally lead teams through more complex aircraft relevant tasks.
  • Potentially make entries in aircraft logs and records.
  • Prioritize workload to maintain schedules on assigned projects.
  • May require specialization in sheet-metal, electric work, avionics or other aircraft systems related disciplines.
