About The Position

Amentum is seeking a qualified Aircraft Mechanic 1 specialized in Airframe/Structural, Landing Gear, Launch/Arresting, Wing/Pylon Fold; Hydraulic/Pneumatic, and mechanical Flight Control Systems (EA-18G experience is required) to support U.S. Naval Air Station maintenance operations at NAS Whidbey Island. Aircraft Mechanics I must possess a combination of experience to repair engines, sheet metal, structural, hydraulic, electrical, power train, and general mechanical maintenance of moderate difficulty, required to meet assigned missions. The role involves making repairs to aircraft under the direction of higher-graded workers, troubleshooting malfunctions in various aircraft systems, and repairing/replacing components using a variety of tools and equipment. This includes reading and interpreting technical manuals, performing inspections, and maintaining aircraft in safe operating condition. Specialization in areas such as sheet-metal, electric work, avionics, or other aircraft systems may be required. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) licensing is not required, but contractor employee technical proficiency is essential. Selected candidates will be required to hold this job position for one year. The position requires the ability to pass and maintain a Security Clearance, meet physical requirements, and obtain facility credentials. Travel is also required.

Requirements

US Citizenship is required for facility credentials/authorization at this work location.
High School diploma or equivalent preferred and three (3) years of job-related experience required.
Three (3) years F/A-18E/F or EA-18G experience.
Ability to troubleshoot and repair complex malfunctions and perform complex Organizational Level Maintenance actions in support of the EA-18G aircraft.
Possess a level of experience necessary to inspect all aircraft assigned, certify Aircraft/Engine Logbook entries.
Possess one or more of the specialties: Propulsion/Engine and Fuel Systems, Airframe/Structural, Landing Gear, Launch/Arresting, Wing/Pylon Fold; Hydraulic/Pneumatic, and mechanical Flight Control Systems, Egress and/or Environmental Control Systems (F/A-18E/F and/or EA-18G experience is required), Aviation Life Support Systems (ALSS), Avionics Communication/Navigation/Identification/Electronic/Countermeasures/RADAR and Weapon Control Systems (EA-18G experience is required), Power Distribution/Electrical Power, Instruments, Compass, Automatic Flight Control and Lighting Systems, Aircraft Armament, Line Corrosion (Paint and Final Finish).
Good oral and written communication skills.
Working knowledge of word-processing and integrated software applications.
Organizational skills and ability to perform detail-oriented work are required.
Ability to pass and maintain a Security Clearance.
Meet physical requirements associated with and/or pass any medical examination requirements related to performing daily assigned task.
Must be able to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization.

Responsibilities

Makes repairs to aircraft and follows direction of higher graded workers.
Troubleshoots malfunctions in aircraft structure, landing gear, flight surfaces and controls, anti-icing, pneudraulic, engines, auxiliary power unit, and ventilation and heating systems.
Repairs, replaces, and rebuilds aircraft structures, such as wings and fuselage, and functional components including rigging, surface controls, and plumbing and hydraulic units, using hand tools, power tools, machines, and equipment such as shears, sheet metal brake, welding equipment, rivet gun, and drills.
Reads and interprets manufacturers' and airline's maintenance manuals, service bulletins, technical data, engineering data, and other specifications to determine feasibility and method of repairing or replacing malfunctioning or damaged components.
Replaces or repairs worn or damaged components, such as carburetors, alternators, magnetos, fuel controls, fuel pumps, oil pumps, and engine mounted gearboxes, and compressor bleed valves using hand tools, gauges, and testing equipment, removing engine from aircraft, using hoist or forklift truck, disassembling and inspecting parts for wear, cracks, security, or other defects.
Adjusts, repairs, or replaces electrical wiring system and aircraft accessories.
Performs preflight, thru-flight, and post-flight maintenance inspections.
Performs miscellaneous duties to service aircraft, including flushing crankcase, cleaning screens and filters, greasing moving parts, and checking brakes.
Supervises the jacking and towing of aircraft.
Enters in the maintenance records description of the work performed and verifies the work was performed satisfactorily.
Services engines and airframe components at line station making repairs, short of overhaul, required to keep aircraft in safe operating condition.
Specializes in work, repair and modification of structural, precision, and functional spare parts and assemblies, and specializes in engine repair.
Ensures a safe work environment by developing and maintaining safety practices, completing training, and participating in emergency response.
Consistently provides services that meet customer expectations by conforming to the Amentum Quality Policy and carrying out job activities in compliance with applicable Amentum Quality System documents and customer contracts.
Reads, understands, and implements general and specific operational, safety, quality, and environmental requirements of all plans, procedures, and policies pertaining to the job.
