About The Position

The Aircraft Mechanic I (Sheetmetal/Structures UH-60/AH-64/CH-47 - MWO TDY) is responsible for repairing and replacing aircraft structural components such as stingers, longerons, bulkheads, beams, and aircraft skin according to drawings, blueprints, directives, technical manuals, and safety procedures. This role involves repairing, fabricating, modifying, and installing structural parts, forming blocks, and shaping metal using various techniques. The mechanic will also mix and apply fiberglass materials, balance rotary-wing aircraft blades, and make repairs to plastic windows and enclosures. They will use common and precision measuring tools, alignment fixtures, and technical publications to perform structural repairs, inspections, and component removal. Additionally, the role includes requisitioning supplies, preparing requests for turn-ins and repair parts, performing operator maintenance on tools, conducting final checks on assemblies, and preparing maintenance-related forms and records. The Aircraft Mechanic I will assist other technicians, remove and disassemble defective parts, maintain supplies, perform preventive maintenance, and adhere to company policies and safety programs with a safety-first mentality. This position may require travel to TDY assignments.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Three years aviation maintenance experience.
  • Two years rotary wing aircraft experience.
  • Two years experience on the assigned Mission Design Series (MDS).
  • All experience must be within the six most recent years.
  • Valid Driver’s License.
  • Must provide own tools/toolbox.
  • Must be fully capable and able to travel to TDY assignments as required via the CBA/seniority eligibility.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a NACI(T1) Public Trust Security Clearance.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization.
  • US Citizenship is required for facility credentials/authorization to work at this facility.
  • Thorough knowledge of aircraft sheet metal/structural modifications and repair.
  • Basic knowledge of aircraft unique tools such as test equipment, torque wrenches, dial indicators, micrometers, hydraulic press machine, sheet metal brakes and sheers and those listed in the assigned MDS Maintenance Allocation Chart (MAC).
  • Working knowledge of technical publications and Logistics Information Systems.
  • Able to prioritize workloads to maintain schedules on assigned projects.
  • Possess the level of experience to inspect all required aeronautical type maintenance to be performed by Sheetmetal/Structural Mechanic.

Responsibilities

  • Mixes and applies fiberglass materials.
  • Balances rotary-wing aircraft blades.
  • Makes emergency and permanent repairs to transparent plastic windows and enclosures.
  • Uses common measuring tools, precision measuring gages, and alignment fixtures to perform structural repairs.
  • Performs checks, carries out inspections, and removal of components.
  • Mixes and applies primers and paints to aircraft surfaces.
  • Applies corrosion control treatment to aircraft metals.
  • Requisitions bench stock for repair of aircraft structures.
  • Prepares request for turn ins and repair parts and structural components.
  • Uses and performs operator maintenance on common and special tools.
  • Performs final checks on assembly and installation of parts that were replaced.
  • Prepares forms and records related to aircraft maintenance.
  • Assists aircraft technicians and mechanics on various tasks.
  • Removes and disassembles defective parts of the aircraft.
  • Maintains supplies and performs preventive maintenance.
  • Performs additional duties, including maintenance duties, as requested.
  • Adheres to company policies and safety programs (Safety-first mentality).
