About The Position

Amentum is seeking a qualified Aircraft Mechanic 1 specialized in Propulsion/Engine and Fuel Systems with EA-18G experience for U.S. Naval Air Station maintenance operations at NAS Whidbey Island. This role requires a combination of experience in repairing engines, sheet metal, structural, hydraulic, electrical, power train, and general mechanical systems of moderate difficulty to meet assigned missions. The mechanic will perform repairs, troubleshoot malfunctions, and replace components in various aircraft systems, including engines, fuel systems, and airframes, following technical manuals and specifications. This position involves detailed inspection, maintenance, and repair tasks, with a focus on ensuring the safe operating condition of aircraft. Selected candidates will be required to hold this job position for one year.

Requirements

High School diploma or equivalent preferred
Three (3) years of job-related experience required
Three (3) years F/A-18E/F or EA-18G experience
Ability to troubleshoot and repair complex malfunctions and perform complex Organizational Level Maintenance actions in support of the EA-18G aircraft
Possess a level of experience necessary to inspect all aircraft assigned, certify Aircraft/Engine Logbook entries
Good oral and written communication skills
Working knowledge of word-processing and integrated software applications
Organizational skills and ability to perform detail-oriented work are required
Ability to pass and maintain a Security Clearance
Meet physical requirements associated with and/or pass any medical examination requirements related to performing daily assigned task
Must be able to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization
US Citizenship is required for facility credentials/authorization at this work location

Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) licensing of contractor employee technical proficiency is not required.

Responsibilities

Makes repairs to aircraft and follows direction of higher graded workers.
Troubleshoots malfunctions in aircraft structure, landing gear, flight surfaces and controls, anti-icing, pneudraulic, engines, auxiliary power unit, and ventilation and heating systems.
Repairs, replaces, and rebuilds aircraft structures, such as wings and fuselage, and functional components including rigging, surface controls, and plumbing and hydraulic units, using hand tools, power tools, machines, and equipment such as shears, sheet metal brake, welding equipment, rivet gun, and drills.
Reads and interprets manufacturers' and airline's maintenance manuals, service bulletins, technical data, engineering data, and other specifications to determine feasibility and method of repairing or replacing malfunctioning or damaged components.
Replaces or repairs worn or damaged components, such as carburetors, alternators, magnetos, fuel controls, fuel pumps, oil pumps, and engine mounted gearboxes, and compressor bleed valves using hand tools, gauges, and testing equipment, removing engine from aircraft, using hoist or forklift truck, disassembling and inspecting parts for wear, cracks, security, or other defects.
Adjusts, repairs, or replaces electrical wiring system and aircraft accessories.
Performs preflight, thru-flight, and post-flight maintenance inspections.
Performs miscellaneous duties to service aircraft, including flushing crankcase, cleaning screens and filters, greasing moving parts, and checking brakes.
Supervises the jacking and towing of aircraft.
Enters in the maintenance records description of the work performed and verifies the work was performed satisfactorily.
Services engines and airframe components at line station making repairs, short of overhaul, required to keep aircraft in safe operating condition.
Specializes in work, repair, and modification of structural, precision, and functional spare parts and assemblies, and specializes in engine repair.
May be required to be licensed by Federal Aviation Administration.
May require specialization in sheet-metal, electric work, avionics or other aircraft systems related disciplines.
Enforces a safety culture whereby all employees have the responsibility for continuously developing and maintaining a safe work environment.
Completes all training requirements and fulfilling all self-aid/buddy aid responsibilities, participating in emergency response tasks, and serving on safety committees and teams.
