About The Position

Innovative Consulting & Management Services (ICMS) is seeking an Aircraft Mechanic I (Composite) to provide aircraft maintenance services to the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS), U.S. Coast Guard (USCG), Aviation Logistics Center (ALC) for the Short-Range Recovery (SRR) Division. This role involves ensuring aircraft remain in top condition, including program depot maintenance (PDM), which is a total overhaul of an airframe every four years. The work includes disassembly, cleaning, repairing, repainting, and rebuilding aircraft. The position will also support overhauls and repairs for various other Government aircraft and components. Specific duties include performing disassembly, maintenance, repair, inspections, and evaluations of sheet metal and composite structures, electrical and avionics components, dynamic components, landing gear, and flight controls, as well as routing and verifying components, equipment, and supplies on the SRR MH-65 aircraft.

Requirements

  • Experience in aircraft composite structures, to include maintenance and repair with practical experience or an Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) certificate.
  • High school diploma or equivalent (unless higher education is required for a particular job category).
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English fluently.
  • Shall be citizens of the U.S.
  • Possess computer skills to include a basic knowledge sufficient to complete internet searches and prepare/edit documents utilizing word processing or spreadsheet applications.
  • Shall be capable of using cumbersome Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for Hazardous Material (HAZMAT) operations.
  • Shall be capable of performing tasks that frequently require lifting, reaching, bending, walking, pulling, sitting, standing, crouching, stooping, kneeling, and stretching for prolonged periods of time.
  • Shall be capable of performing tasks in cramped, awkward, and strained positions and/or climbing up and down ladders, work platforms, scaffolding, and aircraft structures.
  • Shall be capable of carrying items up to 40 pounds and on heavier items shall seek assistance of other workers or weightlifting devices.

Nice To Haves

  • Specialized experience in advanced composite repair and experience related to USCG aircraft specific models is highly desirable.
  • Experience in aircraft composite structures, to include maintenance and repair with a minimum of five (5) years practical experience or an Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) certificate.
  • Technical capability/experience with aircraft, airframes, components and substructures. Should include maintenance of primary, secondary, and tertiary structures.
  • Experience with USCG MH-65 aircraft is highly desirable.
  • A minimum of five (5) years of practical experience in conducting research using USCG data systems such as TMAPS and Microsoft Office Suite, or similar type systems is desired.
  • Familiarity with Airbus Helicopters’ OEM manuals or similar OEM manuals with the ability to research maintenance history, procedures and component limitations is desired.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate work methods and techniques.
  • Read, understand and apply trade or administrative guides such as technical manuals, technical orders, blueprints, sketches, and other related documents.
  • Lift, reach, bend, walk, pull, sit, stand, crouch, stoop, kneel and stretch for prolonged periods of time.
  • Work in cramped, awkward and strained positions or climb ladders, work platforms, scaffolding and aircraft structures.
  • Follow appropriate safety procedures common to the trade.
  • Follow specific hazardous materials and hazardous wastes procedures, including proper fitting and usage of protective gear and completion of related training.
  • Carry items up to 40 pounds or heavier with assistance from other workers or weightlifting devices.
  • Wear cumbersome PPE and clothing for Hazardous Material operations.
  • Perform maintenance and repair on aircraft composite structures.
  • Perform maintenance of primary, secondary, and tertiary structures.
  • Assist in planned depot maintenance of USCG aviation assets.
  • Conduct research using USCG data systems such as TMAPS and Microsoft Office Suite, or similar type systems.
  • Research maintenance history, procedures and component limitations using Airbus Helicopters’ OEM manuals or similar OEM manuals.
  • Deal with aircraft upgrades and aging aircraft sustainment issues.
  • Perform new component integration and develop repair or replacement strategies for airframes, components and/or substructures.
  • Work in regulated areas with toxic materials present including hexavalent chromium and cadmium, using PPE such as protective clothing, respirator, etc.
