About The Position

The Aircraft Mechanic I (Electrician - CH-47) inspects and performs electrical maintenance on aircraft electrical systems and components according to drawings, blueprints, directives, technical manuals and safety procedures. This role involves installing, removing, inspecting, testing, adjusting, or repairing avionics equipment such as radar, radio, and navigation systems in aircraft. The mechanic will also install and repair electrical wiring and/or cable on aircraft, diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair malfunctions in electrical and electronic components, including solid state and transistorized subsystems, and repair aircraft instrument systems. The position requires applying principles of electricity/electronics, hydrostatic motion, pneumatics and hydraulics applicable to repair aircraft instrument systems. Additionally, the role involves removing, installing, repairing, adjusting and testing electrical/electronic elements of assemblies and components, cleaning, preserving and storing electrical/electronic components and aircraft instruments, and removing, repairing, servicing, installing, and troubleshooting nickel cadmium batteries. The mechanic will use and perform operator maintenance on tools, special tools and aircraft ground support equipment, and remove, replace, service, prepare, preserve, clean and store electrical assemblies or components. Disassembly, repair, reassembly, adjustment, and diagnostic testing of electrical systems, subsystems and components according to directives are also key responsibilities. The role includes safely preparing aircraft for inspections, performing limited maintenance operational checks, performing scheduled inspections and assisting in performing special inspections. Requisitioning bench stock for repair of electrical systems and subcomponents, preparing requests for turn-ins and repair parts and electrical components, and preparing forms and records related to aircraft maintenance are also part of the job. The mechanic will maintain supplies and perform preventive maintenance, and perform additional duties, including maintenance duties, as requested. Adherence to company policies and safety programs (Safety-first mentality) is expected.

Requirements

High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
Shall have three years aviation maintenance experience.
Two years rotary wing aircraft experience.
Two years on the assigned Mission Design Series (MDS).
All experience must be within the six most recent years.
Valid Driver’s License.
Must provide own tools/toolbox.
Must be able to obtain and maintain a NACI(T1) Public Trust Security Clearance.
Must be able to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization.
US Citizenship is required for facility credentials/authorization to work at this facility.
Thorough knowledge of MDS aircraft electrical and instrument systems and subsystems and repair.
Basic knowledge of aircraft unique tools and test equipment listed in the assigned MDS Maintenance Allocation Chart (MAC).
Working knowledge of technical publications and Logistics Information Systems.
Able to prioritize workloads to maintain schedules on assigned projects.
Possess the level of experience to inspect all required aeronautical type maintenance to be performed by an aircraft electrician.
Must be able to walk and stand on level and/or inclined surfaces for extended periods throughout the day.
Must be able to climb stairs, ramps, ladders, and work stands.
Must be able to crouch, crawl, grasp or handle objects, use finger dexterity, bend elbow/knee and reach above/below shoulders.
May be required to lift/push/pull heavy objects whose weight may exceed 50 pounds.
Must be able to type using a standard keyboard to communicate through e-mail and various software applications.
Will handle dirty parts and lubricants.
Will be required to wear proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
Must be able to pass a Respirator Physical and Fit Test qualification.
May be required to operate power vehicles, machinery, hand tools, ground support equipment, forklift, etc.
May work in maintenance shop or outside.
Must be able to work in a shop where the environment is drafty, noisy, and dirty.
May be exposed to extreme noise from operating equipment.
May be exposed to electrical shock hazards or work near moving mechanical parts or vehicles.
May be expected to work in austere environments and all-weather conditions.

Nice To Haves

U.S. military technical school or specialized training course is desired; certification of education level is required.
Valid up-to-date A&P and / or FCC license (optional)
