Amentum is seeking qualified Aircraft Structural Mechanic I’s to support U.S. Navy Aviation maintenance operations at NAS Oceana Virginia Beach, VA. The Aircraft Mechanic I troubleshoots malfunctions in aircraft structure, landing gear, flight surfaces and controls, anti-icing, pneudraulic, engines, auxiliary power unit, and ventilation and heating systems. This mechanic repairs, replaces, and rebuilds aircraft structures, such as wings and fuselage, and functional components including rigging, surface controls, and plumbing and hydraulic units, using a variety of tools and equipment. They read and interpret technical manuals and specifications to determine repair methods. The role involves performing various inspections, examining engines for defects, and testing engine operations. Mechanics will replace or repair worn or damaged components, remove and reassemble engines, and adjust or repair electrical wiring systems. They also perform preflight, thru-flight, and post-flight maintenance inspections, service aircraft components, and may specialize in structural, engine repair, or modification. A U.S. Government background security check and favorable fingerprints are required. US Citizenship is required for facility credentials/authorization at this work location.
