About The Position

Diagnose, adjust, repair, or overhaul aircraft engines and assemblies, such as hydraulic and pneumatic systems. Includes helicopter and aircraft engine specialists. Excludes "Avionics Technician" (49-2091).

Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Shall have completed the appropriate T/M required/Series aircraft specific Navy Skill Specialty Class "A" school in airframe, egress, hydraulic, ordnance, power plants and related systems or USMC/USCG equivalent.
  • Shall have a minimum of three years of experience in USN/USMC/USCG O-Level maintenance in the specific T/M hired to maintain. This experience relates to structural repairs, hydraulics, egress, ordnance or power plants/related systems.
  • Shall have a current state Driver’s License
  • Aviation Ordnance candidates experience shall be minimum five years O-Level experience.
  • Ability to obtain or maintain a secret security clearance
  • Candidates must have been released from military service with an Honorable Discharge to meet minimum qualifications.

Responsibilities

  • Performs scheduled/unscheduled maintenance on specific applicable T/M/S aircraft airframe, ordnance, egress/life support system, power plants, corrosion control and painting, and related systems hired to maintain.
  • Perform flight line essential services as directed by daily Flight Schedule.
  • Maintains, repairs and modifies aircraft structures, aircraft ordnance systems, egress systems, structural components and engines of complex to extreme difficulty.
  • Maintains and repairs aircraft components including but not limited to flight controls, engines, hydraulics, aviation ordnance systems, pneumatics, fuel systems and mechanical components.
  • Applies technical knowledge of airframe, ordnance and power plant systems in determining equipment malfunctions and applies technical expertise in restoring equipment condition and operation.
  • Routine lifting in excess of OSHA standards is required.
  • Routine ordnance loading will require team lifts of ordnance items up to 167 pounds’ load share per team member, in accordance with standard USN procedures.
