About The Position

Systems Application & Technologies, Inc. (SA-TECH) is seeking an Aircraft Mechanic Helper to provide Aerial Target Operations and Maintenance Support to the Naval Air Warfare Center Weapons, Pacific Target and Marine Operations Division at Naval Base Ventura County, Point Mugu, CA. This role involves performing scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on targets, troubleshooting, and assisting in repairs under supervision. The position requires working with various aerial targets and associated support equipment, including airframes, electronics, and avionics. Candidates will also perform testing, operate forklifts and overhead cranes, and understand tool control and Safety Data Sheets (SDS). Additional duties may include handling ordnance, traveling for field activities, and potentially parachute packing or HAZMAT handling.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Two (2) years’ experience in performing general maintenance and repair.
  • Works well with others as a member of a team.
  • Current Driver’s License required; must be able to be insured through company’s vehicle insurance policy while driving work/government/rental vehicles during working hours, and for the duration of employment.
  • U.S. Citizenship required.
  • Must be able to obtain an interim U.S. DoD Secret Security Clearance prior to starting and a final Secret clearance within 90 days of hire date and maintain your clearance throughout your employment.
  • All candidates will be required to pass background screening to include SSN, Driver Record, and Criminal Background Investigation.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with naval target maintenance (CNAFI 4790) programs.
  • Possess basic mechanical-avionics background or engine experience.

Responsibilities

  • Perform under direct and indirect supervision conduct scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on targets and basic troubleshooting techniques.
  • Assist under supervision target decontamination process/procedures.
  • Assist in organizational level repair of engines or structures.
  • Maintenance work on BQM-74, BQM-177, BQM-34, GQM-163 aerial targets and associated support equipment.
  • Work will include work/teardown on the target airframe and assist on electronics, avionics, and associated launch systems and support equipment.
  • Perform testing under supervision to ensure functionality in accordance with procedures defined in NAVAIR manuals using specified test equipment.
  • Operate and be qualified (technically and medically) in forklift operations and overhead crane operations.
  • Perform and understand basic tool control and Safety Data Sheets (SDS).
  • Qualified in the handling and use of associated ordnance in support of target operations.
  • Work in a technical capacity as a team member or team on frequent trips to field activities & vendors.
  • Other duties as assigned (parachute packer, HAZMAT…)
