The Aircraft Mechanic-Aviation Life Support Services (PR) performs organizational, intermediate and limited depot level maintenance to include inspection, operational test, repair, modification and troubleshooting on all assigned aircraft, components and equipment. Applies advanced technical knowledge to solve complex problems and to provide technical assistance, guidance and instruction to other employees as needed. Interprets IETMS, Maintenance Instruction Manuals, and Company directives to perform maintenance. Installs and removes cartridge actuated devices and propulsion actuated devices. Packs, unpacks, preserves and maintains parachutes and seat survival kits. Repairs, fits, maintains and preserves pilots’ personal equipment. Issues and receives aircrew survival equipment. Initiates and updates checkout/return records. Assembles, places in service and performs calendar inspections on oxygen mask assemblies, survival vest, helmets and other related safety/survival equipment. Performs aircraft conditional and special inspections of installed safety/survival equipment. Identifies and treats corrosion. Briefs and debriefs aircrew on use and condition of survival equipment. Maintains foreign object damage (FOD), hazardous waste, and tool control programs.
