About The Position

The Virginia State Police (VSP) is seeking to hire an Aircraft Maintenance Mechanic in our Aviation Division in Abingdon, Virginia. The job duties for this position include but are not limited to: Performing necessary repairs and maintenance to keep Department aircraft operationally ready. Assisting with inspections of Department aircraft. Marinating aircraft records and instructions for continued airworthiness manuals.

Requirements

• Knowledge of aircraft systems.
• Knowledge of relevant equipment and procedures.
• Skill in the use of aircraft mechanic tools.
• Ability to diagnose maintenance problems.
• Ability to assist in performance of inspections as prescribed by FAA and the manufacturer.
• Ability to maintain records and logs.
• Ability to interpret and follow oral and written instructions.
• Ability to perform maintenance and repair in a professional manner.
• FAA Airframe and Powerplant Certificate required with no FAA license suspensions in the past five (5) years.
• Rotorcraft experience required.
• Training in aircraft repair and moderate experience in maintenance of airplanes and helicopters.
• Successful applicant may be required to execute up to a 60-month written agreement should additional factory schools need to be completed.
• Graduation from high school or equivalent.
