About The Position

Forest Protection Limited (FPL) invites applications for the AME APPRENTICE. The AME APPRENTICE reports directly to the Maintenance Manager and works within the FPL Maintenance Department. The AME APPRENTICE is responsible for any process that governs the safe and efficient conduct of all flight operations.

Requirements

  • Basic approved training from Transport Canada.
  • Basic computer knowledge.
  • Be legally permitted to work in Canada in the Federal Aviation sector.
  • Be able to communicate clearly and effectively in English.
  • Be capable of obtaining a clean Criminal Background Check.
  • Hold a valid Canadian driver's license or a federally recognized international license.
  • Capable of obtaining a clean Driver Abstract.
  • Hold a valid passport.
  • Have CSA-approved footwear.
  • Be able to lift 50 lbs.
  • Have their own transportation.
  • Have their own tools, excluding specialized tools.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Willing to go on deployments.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct inspection, maintenance, repair and servicing of company aircraft to ensure continuity of their Certificate of Airworthiness.
  • If instructed by the supervisor, perform the same duties as per (1) on non-owned aircraft.
  • Assist in the attainment of company project goals by performing functions outlined in (1) or (2) on various projects/locations as assigned.
  • Assist in the instruction of on-the-job training for AME apprentice.
  • Complete and certify logbooks, work sheets, work cards, and work accomplished in accordance with CARs 571.10 and 605.93, 605.94 Schedule I items 6, 8, 9 and 605.96 Schedule II items 4 and 5.
  • Assist with the modification of company aircraft as instructed by the supervisor.
  • Responsible for the proper disposition of parts issued from aircraft stores.
  • Report unserviceable maintenance equipment to the supervisor.
  • Ensure that safety precautions and environmental management systems are being observed.
  • Comply with FPL operations and policy manuals, and SOPs as they may apply.
  • Be an active participant in the company safety program.
  • Act with professionalism at all times. Adhere to FPL Respectful Workplace Policy, Alcohol and Substance Abuse Policy and others as applicable.
  • Wear clothing appropriate to FPL operations, including provided uniform, as well as appropriate safety footwear.
  • Be adaptable, given the nature of FPL’s operations in the summertime.
  • Remain current on developments in the field of Aircraft Maintenance Engineer and others impacting the position of Aircraft Maintenance Engineer by attending meetings/seminars and other information exchanges, reading published literature, periodic training, familiarization with relevant technology, etc.
  • Carry out other duties as assigned.
