About The Position

This is a Design Engineer position in Aircraft Layout and Design Engineering for Completions. Design responsibilities primarily involve engineering standard and complex floorplans creating 2D design packages utilizing AutoCAD and Catia. In addition to design packages this also includes but not limited to, carpet layout drawings, exterior marking drawings, emergency equipment layouts, and material call-out drawings. At times this position will be required to assist in the 3D design of new and derivative versions of interior furnishings and amenities as part of outfitting new aircraft utilizing Catia. Examples include custom cabinetry such as galleys, lavatories, closets, storage compartments, interior peripheries, water/waste systems, entertainment equipment installations, and seating installations. AL&D Design engineer will employ design standards consistent with company standards and accepted design methods. Design assignments are executed under the direction of the Engineering Manager or Lead Eng to meet the customer upfront schedules. This position will have high interaction with Customer Completion Executives, and Customer Delivery Managers.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of the use of AutoCAD and Catia to create complicated designs requiring 2-D drawings from 3D Models.
  • Knowledge of the use of Catia to assist in the design of 3D models for aircraft interiors.
  • Proficient in managing resources and projects as well as being a high contributor to the overall work effort.
  • Ability to convey technical concepts in both written and verbal formats.
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
  • Bachelor's Degree Engineering or related curriculum required or equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.
  • 0-18 months experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Utilizing CATIA and Smarteam to extract data for the 2D AutoCAD design packages of aircraft interiors.

Responsibilities

  • Engineering standard and complex floorplans creating 2D design packages utilizing AutoCAD and Catia.
  • Creating carpet layout drawings, exterior marking drawings, emergency equipment layouts, and material call-out drawings.
  • Assisting in the 3D design of new and derivative versions of interior furnishings and amenities as part of outfitting new aircraft utilizing Catia.
  • Employing design standards consistent with company standards and accepted design methods.
  • Executing design assignments under the direction of the Engineering Manager or Lead Eng to meet customer upfront schedules.
  • Providing technical assistance to engineering staff and contributing by completing discrete engineering tasks on schedule.
  • Applying engineering knowledge to resolve routine issues using company procedures.
  • Analyzing and evaluating results of project activities.
  • Preparing recommendations for changes and compiling necessary reports for various department supervision.
  • Recognizing discrepancies and/or problems with analysis/test results and working toward corrective action.
  • Actively working to improve daily processes, and ensuring all work meets customer requirements.
  • Continuing learning and developing knowledge of application of technical principles, theories, and concepts in assigned field of expertise.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.
