About The Position

BAE Systems is seeking an Aircraft Ground Support Equipment Maintenance Technician in Tucson, AZ. Responsibilities include performing scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, including in-depth repair, on powered and non-powered ground support equipment. This role involves reviewing maintenance records, using hand tools and precision measuring devices for troubleshooting, and working from complex written instructions such as test specifications, blueprints, drawings, schematics, and manuals. The technician will also be responsible for ordering and tracking parts and consumables, maintaining GSE status updates, providing training to Air Force AGE mechanics, and completing maintenance actions in a tracking database. Additionally, the role requires inspecting, testing, and operating GSE, servicing equipment with various fluids, and adhering to hazardous material handling regulations. The technician will prepare GSE for deployment, operate tow vehicles for equipment positioning, and practice good housekeeping, tool control, Foreign Object Damage Prevention, and safety.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of experience maintaining/troubleshooting powered and non-powered GSE/AGE
  • Ability to read drawings, diagrams, and schematics
  • Must be able to perform physical requirements of the position (prolonged standing, lifting, pushing, pulling, squatting, bending, kneeling, and working in awkward positions)
  • Willing to work flexible work schedule to meet program and flying schedule requirements
  • Must be able to work and make decisions independently
  • Ability to obtain passport and medical clearance to facilitate overseas deployments
  • Microsoft Office proficiency
  • Excellent written and verbal skills

Nice To Haves

  • Prior military AGE/GSE experience
  • Experience in the aerospace industry
  • EPA Refrigerant Handler Certification

Responsibilities

  • Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance to include in-depth repair as required on powered and non-powered ground support equipment
  • Review maintenance records of periodic maintenance to ensure equipment is fully operational in support of daily and deployment equipment requirements
  • Use an assortment of basic hand tools in addition to precision measuring devices for troubleshooting and repairs
  • Work from complex written instructions such as formal test specifications, blueprints, drawings, schematics, and manuals
  • Order and provide status for all required parts and consumables required to perform all Ground Support Equipment (GSE) maintenance/troubleshooting actions.
  • Track all GSE statuses and provide status updates to the site lead
  • Provide training on non-familiar GSE items to Air Force AGE mechanics as required
  • Complete maintenance and troubleshooting actions into maintenance tracking database
  • Inspect, test, and operate GSE to determine equipment serviceability and proper operation, services GSE equipment with fuel, oil, water, coolant, hydraulic fluid, refrigerant, and compressed air
  • Familiar with processes and procedures used to store, handle, use, and dispose of all hazardous materials and waste in accordance with all state, local, federal, and Air Force environmental standards and regulations.
  • Prepare GSE for mobility deployment.
  • Operation of GSE tow vehicles for the dispatch, positioning of equipment to support aircraft maintenance and flying operations
  • Practice good housekeeping, tool control, Foreign Object Damage Prevention, and safety at all times
