About The Position

The Aircraft Engine Mechanic/FEDS Operator repairs or replaces worn, defective, or damaged aircraft engine parts using current technical instructions. They test engine components and systems to ensure proper functioning and use testing equipment to diagnose and identify engine problems. Responsibilities include disassembling and inspecting engine parts such as turbine blades and cylinders for wear, warping, cracks, and leaks. This mechanic assists in the preparation and installation of aircraft engines and the removal of engine systems and components. The role may also involve operating and evaluating engine systems using an engine run cell.

Requirements

  • FAA Powerplant License.
  • If no A&P, must have five (5) years of documented experience as a Flexible Engine Diagnostic System (FEDS) operator.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization.
  • US Citizenship is required for facility credentials/authorization.
  • Must possess own shadowed/etched Tools and Toolbox.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Adaptable, diversified, and capable of troubleshooting entire aircraft system.
  • Working knowledge of electrical, electronic, mechanical and associated systems principles.
  • Knowledge of Quality Control, Production and Supply procedures.
  • Able to properly use a variety of common hand tools and measuring devices such as gauges, torque wrenches and scales and test, measurement and diagnostic equipment related to specific aircraft models.
  • Able to determine when faulty systems or assemblies can be corrected through repair of replacement of new parts and the nature and extent of repair required.
  • Skill in reading, applying and interpreting technical data.
