About The Position

Amentum is seeking qualified Aircraft Electricians Mechanic II's to support U.S. Navy Aviation maintenance operations at NAS Norfolk, VA. The role involves troubleshooting and repairing aircraft systems, including structures, landing gear, flight controls, engines, and auxiliary power units. Responsibilities include repairing and replacing components using various tools, interpreting technical manuals, and performing various types of inspections. The job also entails servicing aircraft engines, fuel systems, and performing propeller repairs. Specific duties include adjusting and repairing electrical wiring systems, performing pre-flight and post-flight inspections, and servicing aircraft components. The incumbent may also supervise aircraft handling, maintain maintenance records, and perform line maintenance. Specialization in structural or engine repair is possible. A Federal Aviation Administration license may be required. A U.S. Government background security check and favorable fingerprints are mandatory. This role requires shift work and potential detachments. Obtaining a CDQAR within 30 days of promotion/hire is necessary. The position requires a High School diploma or equivalent, completed Navy Aviation Electrician AE “A” School, and knowledge of special tools/equipment. Physical ability to perform all duties, including standing, climbing, bending, and stooping, is essential. A valid driver's license is required. Work is primarily outdoors in various weather conditions with exposure to noise and fumes. The ability to interpret technical publications and work with minimal supervision is crucial. Physical requirements include the ability to meet medical examination standards. Off-site service on detachments may be required. An approved status from the Contractor Verification system (7-year background check) and facility credentials/authorization are necessary. US Citizenship is required for facility credentials. A T3 Secret Eligible Status must be obtained.

Requirements

Minimum Five (5 ) years actual and recent organizational level E-2C/D aircraft maintenance experience with 3 years prior E-2C/D Collateral Duty Inspector (CDI or Quality Assurance Representative experience).
High School graduate or equivalent.
Must have completed Navy Aviation Electrician AE “A” School
Knowledge and use of special tools/equipment required to perform assigned maintenance tasks is mandatory.
Any additional qualifications or license required to maintain aircraft.
Must be physically able to perform all assigned duties.
Must have a valid Virginia or North Carolina Driver license (if North Carolina resident)
Ability to read and interpret technical publications, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
Should be a self-motivator and work with minimum supervision.
Must be able to meet physical requirements associated with and/or pass any medical examination requirements related to performing daily assigned tasks.
There is a great deal of standing, climbing, bending and stooping.
Must be able to obtain an approved status from the Contractor Verification system which includes a 7-year background check.
Must be able to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization.
US Citizenship is required for facility credentials/authorization at this work location.
Must be able to obtain a T3 Secret Eligible Status.
Must Obtain CDQAR within 30 days of promotion/hire date.
Must be able to obtain a U.S. Government background security check as well as favorable fingerprints in EQIP.
May be required to complete a SF-85/86 in EQIP as required to maintain possession of a CAC card.

Responsibilities

Troubleshoots malfunctions in aircraft structure, landing gear, flight surfaces and controls, anti-icing, pneudraulic, engines, auxiliary power unit, and ventilation and heating systems.
Repairs, replaces, and rebuilds aircraft structures, such as wings and fuselage, and functional components including rigging, surface controls, and plumbing and hydraulic units, using hand tools, power tools, machines, and equipment such as shears, sheet metal brake, welding equipment, rivet gun, and drills.
Reads and interprets manufacturers' and airline's maintenance manuals, service bulletins, technical data, engineering data, and other specifications to determine feasibility and method of repairing or replacing malfunctioning or damaged components.
Performs progressive, phase, periodic, and other hourly, conditional or calendar inspections.
Examines reciprocating engines for cracked cylinders and oil leaks, and listens to operating engine to detect and diagnose malfunctions.
Inspects jet engines and components for cracks, corrosion, foreign object damage, burned areas, distortions, security, warping, wear, and missing segments.
Inspects jet engine turbine blades to detect cracks, distortion, corrosion, burn-out, security, or breaks.
Tests engine operation, using testing equipment, such as ignition analyzer, compression checker, distributor timer, ammeter, and jet calibration (Jetcal) tester, to locate source of malfunction.
Installs, maintains and services aircraft engines, fuel and lubrication systems, drive accessories and gear boxes.
Handles and services aircraft both ashore and aboard ships.
Performs complete aircraft turboshaft/turboprop engine repair.
Analyzes engine degradation using oil analysis tests.
Evaluates jet engine performance for fixed turbojet engines.
Performs propeller repairs replacing or repairing worn or damaged components, such as carburetors, alternators, magnetos, fuel controls, fuel pumps, oil pumps, and engine mounted gearboxes, and compressor bleed valves using hand tools, gauges, and testing equipment.
Removes engine from aircraft, using hoist or forklift truck, disassembles and inspects parts for wear, cracks, security, or other defects, and repairs or replaces defective engine parts and reassembles and installs engine in aircraft.
Adjusts, repairs, or replaces electrical wiring system and aircraft accessories.
Performs preflight, thru-flight, and post-flight maintenance inspections.
Performs miscellaneous duties to service aircraft, including flushing crankcase, cleaning screens and filters, greasing moving parts, and checking brakes.
Supervises the jacking and towing of aircraft.
Enters in the maintenance records description of the work performed and verifies the work was performed satisfactorily.
May service engines and airframe components at line station making repairs, short of overhaul, required to keep aircraft in safe operating condition.
May specialize in work, repair and modification of structural, precision, and functional spare parts and assemblies.
May specialize in engine repair.
Enforces a safety culture whereby all employees have the responsibility for continuously developing and maintaining a safe work environment.
Completes all training requirements and fulfilling all self-aid/buddy aid responsibilities, participating in emergency response tasks and serving on safety committees and teams.
