About The Position

The Avionics Technician, Final Assembly Line (FAL) is responsible for the installation, integration, testing, troubleshooting, and verification of aircraft electrical and avionics systems during final assembly. This role ensures that all avionics, electrical wiring, communication, navigation, surveillance, and mission systems are installed and functionally validated in accordance with engineering specifications, regulatory requirements, and production schedules. The technician works from detailed engineering drawings, wiring diagrams, installation instructions, and technical manuals to complete complex avionics installations and supports system validation, defect resolution, and continuous improvement initiatives within the FAL environment.

Requirements

  • Completion of accredited technical training in aerospace avionics, electrical systems, or aircraft manufacturing.
  • Equivalent combination of education and hands-on experience in aircraft avionics installation and maintenance may be considered.
  • 5+ years of experience in aircraft assembly on a final line, avionics maintenance, electrical systems installation, or modification within an aerospace environment.
  • Strong knowledge of aircraft avionics systems, including communication, navigation, surveillance, flight deck, electrical power distribution, and integrated aircraft systems.
  • Proven ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, wiring diagrams, schematics, and technical manuals.
  • Experience performing avionics testing, fault isolation, troubleshooting, and defect resolution.
  • Proficiency with avionics test equipment, electrical measurement tools, wiring installation practices, and aerospace standards.
  • Knowledge of aircraft electrical bonding, grounding, and electromagnetic interference (EMI) control principles.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality and safety.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced production environment.
  • Effective communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Positive attitude with a continuous improvement mindset.

Responsibilities

  • Install and integrate aircraft avionics and electrical systems, including wiring harnesses, communication systems, navigation systems, flight deck equipment, sensors, antennas, and associated components on the final assembly line.
  • Interpret and execute work based on engineering drawings, wiring diagrams, schematics, and technical documentation.
  • Perform continuity checks, functional testing, system verification, and troubleshooting of installed avionics and electrical systems.
  • Identify, diagnose, and resolve installation and system discrepancies in collaboration with engineering and quality teams.
  • Utilize specialized avionics test equipment, diagnostic tools, and software to verify system integrity and performance.
  • Perform wire routing, termination, connector installation, bonding, and grounding in accordance with aerospace standards and specifications.
  • Complete required documentation, including work orders, inspection records, test reports, and non-conformance reports.
  • Ensure all work is performed in compliance with safety standards, quality requirements, and regulatory guidelines.
  • Support production targets while maintaining high levels of workmanship and attention to detail.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including engineering, quality assurance, production planning, and flight test personnel.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives related to build efficiency, quality, and safety.
  • Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior technicians and new hires.
  • Participate in root cause analysis and corrective action processes.
  • Contribute to maintaining a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
  • Assist in resolving production bottlenecks and escalating technical issues as required.
