About The Position

Boeing Commercial Airplanes (BCA) is seeking to provide current contract labor teammates with the opportunity to join our 787 production teams working as an Aircraft Assembly Test Mechanic in North Charleston, South Carolina on a variable shift. Your PHOP Leadership Endorsement Form will outline the specific requirements which qualifies you for a direct offer of employment. Team members will leverage their prior experience, and the knowledge gained from training and certifications to complete daily assigned tasks effectively. Individuals will be responsible for identifying their work locations on advanced airplanes, parts, and tooling by interpreting intricate drawings to accurately complete detailed work instructions. Attention to detail and procedure compliance is critical to identify all necessary hand tools, parts, and equipment required to ensure defect-free work. Requirements

  • Serving within a contract labor capacity as a mechanic (DAJX, DCTL, DEJ1, DCTJ)
  • Successful completion of the PHOP program
  • Must have the ability to work variable shifts (first, second, or third) based on business needs.
  • Must be able to walk constantly throughout the workday; stand 6-8 hours per day; climb or work from stairs/steps up to 8 hours per day; climb ladders; bend and twist frequently up to six hours per day; squat and kneel.
  • Must be able to lift/carry up to 35 pounds; push/pull using up to 45 pounds of force; and reach overhead up to six hours per day.
  • Must be able to work with high-hazard chemicals using proper protective equipment provided.
  • Must be able to complete and maintain Confined Space and Fall Protection certifications, if required.
  • Experience using software applications such as internet navigation, email, Microsoft Office Suite, and/or other specialized computer applications.
  • Experience following detailed work instructions, reading and interpreting blueprints, drawings, or specifications, along with successful completion of training and knowledge assessments involving mathematical calculations, all conducted in English.
  • Experience in a manufacturing, technical, or mechanical field, including equivalent education or military experience, performing work with basic hand, power, and/or pneumatic (air) tools.
  • Experience in electrical assembly and/or electronic materials.
  • Experience in avionics systems troubleshooting, wire bundle installations, and aircraft electrical systems troubleshooting.
  • This position must meet export control compliance requirements. To meet export control compliance requirements, a “U.S. Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. §120.62 is required. “U.S. Person” includes U.S. Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.

  • Operate various mechanical lifts (e.g. ladders, tiger and snorkel lifts).
  • Use various hand tools and diagnostic equipment such as screwdrivers, ratchets, power screwdriver multi meters, continuity testers.
  • Apply chemical solvents, sealants, coatings, primers, adhesives, paints and special finishes.
  • Inspect your work quality and check for Foreign Object Debris.
  • Work around energized sources (electrical equipment and hazards/shock, e.g. circuit breakers and wiring) and exposure to constant noise.
  • Finger manipulation (keyboarding, other).
  • Lifting and carrying up to 10-35 pounds.
  • Climbing/balancing (stairs, ladders, poles, scaffolding, inclined surfaces), crawling, crouching (squatting).
  • Flexion/Extension (head bent down, head bent back), handling, kneeling, bending at the waist, reaching (overhead), rotation of head/neck, standing, twisting at the waist and walking.
