About The Position

Parsons is looking for an amazingly talented Air Traffic Automation Subject Matter Expert (SME) to join our team! The Air Traffic Automation Subject Matter Expert (SME) will provide subject matter expertise in automation systems during the BNATCS program transition under the T5 contract. This role focuses on ensuring smooth integration of automated processes, tools, and workflows to enhance program efficiency and mission readiness. The SME will anticipate technical challenges, optimize system performance, and align automation strategies with operational requirements. This position is hybrid and based on customer needs, the successful candidate should expect frequent, and at times short-notice, on-site requirements at FAA Headquarters in Washington, DC. For this reason, only those located within a 100-mile radius of FAA Headquarters will be considered. T5 Program Summary: The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) awarded the Technical Support Services Contract 5 (T5) to Parsons in April 2023. Parsons is the prime contractor. This $1.8+ billion contract has a 4-year base period with two 3-year options. The statement of work includes a variety of activities that support the FAA’s Capital Investment Plan (CIP) and certain reimbursable programs, the FAA NextGen Program, national security programs, and aviation safety. Specifically, work includes site selection and engineering, construction, environmental and fire/life safety, equipment installation and testing, drafting, contract surveillance, and other technical services as required. Work is performed across the nation in each of the FAA’s nine regions as well as the Aeronautical Center in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and the Technical Center in Atlantic City, New Jersey and in several U.S. territories. An average staff of 500 with a peak staff over 650 supports this contract, in addition to those subcontractors who perform construction work.

Requirements

  • 15 years of experience in automation systems integration and transition.
  • Strong background in deploying automated workflows and tools for large programs.
  • Familiarity with government compliance and secure systems.
  • Technical expertise in process automation, scripting, or orchestration platforms

Responsibilities

  • Lead transition planning for automation systems, tools, and workflows.
  • Identify and mitigate risks related to automated processes during stand-up and integration.
  • Advise leadership on automation best practices to improve efficiency and reduce manual workload.
  • Support testing, validation, and implementation of automated solutions across program functions.
  • Coordinate with IT, engineering, and operational teams to ensure automation readiness for Day 1.
