About The Position

The Air Ticketing Specialist is required to have the knowledge base to be able to perform duties in Amadeus GDS system. Perform the daily air related processes and conform to the Company’s objectives and policies. The Air Ticketing Specialist would be responsible for working directly with Avanti Reservation staff, and ticketing contract and published air, working schedule changes, refunds and exchanging of airline tickets. Air Ticketing Specialists are required to meet Avanti’s quality standards and accuracy levels to achieve company goals and support all functions within the Call Center. This is a Full-Time position eligible for participation in a comprehensive company benefits & perks program. Requirements

  • Excellent communication skills: verbal, listening and written
  • GDS experience – Amadeus preferred
  • 3 years’ experience working on a GDS air system would be preferred
  • Have excellent multi-tasking, problem solving, complaint resolution and negotiation skills
  • Proven record of building relationships
  • Possess strong computer skills including Microsoft Suite and internet browser
  • Able to react effectively and calmly in emergencies
  • Able to maintain customer confidentiality
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented
  • Willingness to work and be available for overtime hours as needed
  • FINGER DEXTERITY: Using primarily just the fingers to make small movements such as typing, picking up small objects, or pinching fingers together.
  • TALKING: Especially where one must frequently convey detailed or important instructions or ideas accurately, loudly, or quickly.
  • AVERAGE HEARING: Able to hear average or normal conversations and receive ordinary information.
  • AVERAGE VISUAL ABILITIES: Average, ordinary, visual acuity necessary to prepare or inspect documents or products or operate machinery (copy machine, keyboard, etc.).
  • PHYSICAL STRENGTH: Sedentary work; sitting most of the time. Exerts up to 10 lbs. of force occasionally.
  • REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved instructions and to deal with problems involving a few variables.
  • MATHEMATICS ABILITY: Ability to perform very basic math skills including adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing two-digit numbers; the four basic arithmetic operations with money; and operations with units such as inch, foot, yard; ounce, and pound (or their metric counterparts).
  • LANGUAGE ABILITY: Ability to use passive vocabulary of 5,000-6,000 words; read at a slow rate; and define unfamiliar words in dictionaries for meaning, spelling, and pronunciation. Ability to write complex sentences, using proper punctuation, and using adjectives and adverbs. Ability to communicate in complex sentences, using normal word order with present and past tense and good vocabulary.

Responsibilities

  • Knowledge of a GDS system – be able to transfer to Amadeus
  • Understand airline contracts and best practice rules on booking airline airfares
  • Working schedule changes within the rules of the different airlines
  • Works with the reservation department regarding air booking questions or issues
  • Responds to Customer Service regarding past air questions and issues
  • Maintains and projects the Company's professional reputation.
  • Assumes responsibility for establishing and maintaining effective coordination and working relationships with area personnel and with management.
  • Keeps supervisor informed of area activities and significant problems.
  • Attends and participates in educational trainings, opportunities and meetings as required.
  • Assists and trains other departments as necessary.
  • Performs related clerical duties as needed.
  • Keeps work area clean, secure, and well maintained.
  • Actively and professionally cross sells Company products and services.
