About The Position

The Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) is seeking a diligent Air Monitoring Equipment Specialist to help maintain the equipment that tracks air quality across the state. This role ensures that data used for public health decisions is accurate and dependable, supporting the goal of cleaner and healthier air for all.

Requirements

  • An associate degree in electronics, electrical engineering technology, information sciences and technology, or a closely related field; or Two years of technical experience testing and repairing electronic or electrical equipment; or An equivalent combination of experience and training.
  • Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within 3 months of graduating with a qualifying degree.
  • Possession of an active motor vehicle license.
  • Meet the PA residency requirement.
  • Ability to perform essential job functions.

Responsibilities

  • Perform regular maintenance on air monitoring instruments and system components.
  • Review analyzer performance and make adjustments to keep equipment functioning within required limits.
  • Calibrate instruments using set procedures and document results for accuracy and compliance.
  • Diagnose equipment issues and repair sensors, monitors, and support equipment.
  • Maintain filters and samples from PM2.5, PM10, and other air sampling systems.
  • Drive to monitoring stations, maintain supplies, and document all completed work in required systems.
