About The Position

CICONIX is seeking an Air Force Special Warfare Head Mentor with six (6) years of experience to support the Special Warfare Training Wing (SWTW), Human Performance (HP) and Support Services (SS) for the U.S. Department of Defense, Air Education and Training Command (AETC). The Mentor will have daily contact with junior Airmen. As such, the Mentor must adhere to the highest standards of conduct in their interface with these Airmen; and understand the student/instructor relationship; the duties of the coaches; and provide the experienced, professional, administrative, and technical support required to achieve the desired degree of student preparation to accomplish course goals. Prepare students for success in SW courses by working with candidates to maximize their potential in aquatics and physical training modules. Interface with the government personnel assigned to various SW courses and programs and integrate relevant career field and military information applicable to the SW curriculum. Execute the SWTW-established and approved course academic curriculum with oversight from government personnel. Augment physical training instruction as needed. Mentor SW students on approved topics, using both government-approved lesson plans and personal experience, to best prepare students for upcoming SW training courses and SW employment. Present training modules to student classes in various forums to include, but not limited to, classrooms, pool decks, workout facilities, and others as required. May use Government vehicles to support training activities (e.g. trail student formations, transport students with injuries, thermal injury intervention), provided the unit commander authorizes such use and all prescribed AFI procedures have been followed to authorize Contractor use. All Mentors shall complete the Government-provided High-Risk Training Course, the Adjunct Faculty Course, and other government provided training as determined by the SWTW Chief Learning Officer, within 30 days after contract award and/or employment under the contract, or when first offered by SWTW, as a term of employment. The determination for required government provided training will be made annually on or before 31 January in each new calendar year of the contract’s duration.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree preferred
  • Six (6) years of experience
  • Two (2) years of experience as a Mentor
  • Bachelor's degree in related field of discipline.
  • In lieu of a bachelor's degree, the Head Mentor may have five (5) years of experience as a Mentor.
  • All mentors shall possess at least one Personal Trainer Certification from any of the following accredited certification credential program listing: American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) ACSM Certified Personal Trainer (CPT), or ACSM Certified Health Fitness Specialist (HFS) American Council on Exercise (ACE) Certified Medical Exercise Specialist (ACE-CMES), or Personal Trainer (ACE-CPT) National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM) Certified Personal Trainer (CPT) National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) Certified Personal Trainer (NSCACPT), or Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS), or Tactical Strength and Conditioning-Facilitator (TSAC-F) The Cooper Institute (CI) CrossFit ‘certifications’ do not qualify as a certification substitute.
  • Mentors are responsible for personal trainer certification renewal frequency and any continuing education credits and re-certifications to keep certification active.
  • All Mentors must possess a Lifeguard Certification.
  • The Head Mentor must also be ASCA Level 1 and Level 2 certified.
  • A minimum of six (6) years of experience as a Combat Controller, Pararescue man (PJ), Special Operations Weatherman/Special Reconnaissance (SOWT/SR), or Tactical Air Control Party (TACP).
  • This direct AFSPECWAR experience is a critical requirement, as mentors must provide credible, firsthand guidance relevant to the unique challenges and training pipelines of each specific career track.
  • A minimum of two (2) years of experience as a Mentor.
  • U.S. Citizenship and a successful background investigation are required.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a government security clearance.
  • Willingness to comply with the government vaccination requirements.
  • Prior water confidence experience from either AF Pararescue Indoctrination course, Special Tactics Training School’s Pre-Dive course, or similar SOF pipeline water skills training.
