The Air Export Agent will be responsible for documenting exports by preparing necessary bills of lading, export declarations, certificates of origin, and related documents. This role requires maintaining quality results by adhering to export standards, procedures, and regulations. The agent will merge carriers’ flight schedules into customers’ product delivery activities, generate freight transfers with appropriate documentation, and originate documentation with shippers’ Letter of Instruction (SLI) and/or Letter of Credit for accuracy. Key responsibilities include verifying shipper/consignee details, calculations of weight, volume, dimensions, inland cartage and freight charges, goods descriptions, clauses, and delivery terms, as well as checking Third Party documents for correctness. The agent will communicate closely with customers and carriers on shipment status, work with field sales staff to promptly respond to customer needs, and supply sufficient documentation to verify airline/trucking invoices before payment approval. Effective application of up-to-date records on tariff/contract rates from available carriers (airlines, oceanic, inland/interstate trucking) is essential. Collaboration with warehouse personnel is expected, along with suggesting and implementing corrective actions for any arising issues. Maintaining a current Hazardous Material license/certification is also required, along with performing other duties assigned by management.
