AIER's Internships offer unparalleled professional opportunities for undergraduates considering careers in economic research, academia, or the private sector. This program provides college students and recent graduates the chance to work closely with staff on projects related to their interests and AIER’s mission. Interns engage in scholarly research, policy analysis, editorial writing, and other departmental activities. The internship focuses on developing a self-developed research project, culminating in a conference presentation and/or journal article, and learning to communicate findings to the public. Interns receive coaching on research development, question formulation, methodology selection, presentation skills, and receiving critical feedback. A robust reading-and-discussion curriculum covers topics like Public Choice analysis, the history of the Great Enrichment, US Debt and monetary policy, and the importance of property rights. Workshops cover academic and popular writing, research methods, econometrics, economic analysis using AIER economic indicators and Bloomberg terminal data, and blockchain technology and cryptocurrency trading. Workshops are led by experts and prioritize individualized feedback and mentoring.
