Safety Technician - CPEP - Evening shift
About The Position
The Aide/Tech II (Behavioral Health) delivers direct patient care in collaboration with the interdisciplinary care team, performing tasks that do not require nursing judgments or administration of medications. Duties include assisting patients with ADLs, obtaining vital signs, completing safety checks, ensuring unit cleanliness and stock, and monitoring patients and visitors. The role involves performing delegated tasks such as phlebotomy, EKGs, blood glucose testing, assisting with patient transfers, and administrative tasks. Additional responsibilities include promoting patient and self-safety, early identification and de-escalation of escalating behaviors, promoting a restraint-free environment, and assisting with emergency safety situations including restraint application, seclusion, Code G/Code M responses, and 1:1 Safety watches. The position is accountable for patient care delivered and adheres to St. Joseph's Hospital Health Center standards of care and practice.
Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent is required.
- Minimum of 2 years healthcare related work experience.
- Customer service and strong communication skills preferred.
- Current BLS/CPR certification required.
- First Aid training.

Responsibilities
- Delivers direct patient care in collaboration with the interdisciplinary care team.

- Assisting patients with ADLs as needed.
- Obtaining vital signs.
- Completing 15-minute safety checks.
- Ensuring unit is properly stocked and clean.
- Monitoring patients and visitors to ensure safety.
- Performing tasks as delegated to by the assigned RN, including but not limited to: phlebotomy draws, obtaining EKGs, completing blood glucose testing, assisting with patient care and transfer utilizing appropriate assistive devices, and administrative tasks as needed.
- Promoting the safety of patients, self and others.
- Identifying escalating behaviors early on and working to diffuse the situation.
- Working to promote a restraint free environment.
- Assisting with emergency safety situations including restraint application, seclusion, Code G/Code M responses and 1:1 Safety watches.
- Accountable for the patient care they deliver.
- Adheres to St. Joseph's Hospital Health Center standards of care and practice.
