About The Position

7:00pm - 7:30am with a rotating weekend and holiday rotation. Initial training will be during the day shift. POSITION TITLE: Aide/Tech II (Behavioral Health) MISSION STATEMENT: We, St. Joseph's Health and Trinity Health, serve together in the spirit of the Gospel as a compassionate and transforming healing presence within our communities. POSITION SUMMARY: · Delivers direct patient care in collaboration with the interdisciplinary care team. Performs tasks that do not require nursing judgements or administration of medications. · Duties include, but not limited to: assisting patients with ADLs as needed, obtaining vital signs, completing 15-minute safety checks, ensuring unit is properly stocked and clean, and monitoring patients and visitors to ensure safety. · Responsible for performing tasks as delegated to by the assigned RN, including but not limited to: phlebotomy draws, obtaining EKGs, completing blood glucose testing, assisting with patient care and transfer utilizing appropriate assistive devices, and administrative tasks as needed. · Additional responsibilities include promoting the safety of patients, self and others, identifying escalating behaviors early on and working to diffuse the situation, and working to promote a restraint free environment. Assisting with emergency safety situations including restraint application, seclusion, Code G/Code M responses and 1:1 Safety watches. · Is accountable for the patient care they deliver. Adheres to St. Joseph's Hospital Health Center standards of care and practice.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Minimum of 2 years healthcare related work experience, customer service and strong communication skills preferred.
  • Participates in orientation and continuing education and updates and maintains knowledge and skills related to specific areas of expertise.
  • Completes population specific competency annually on populations served as identified in scope of care and service.
  • Current BLS/CPR certification required and First Aid training.
  • Heavy work (Over 50lbs): requires standing, lifting, pulling, pushing and carrying for long periods of time.
  • Must have the visual and auditory acuity adequate to perform observations and patient care.
