About The Position

This position is responsible for data tracking, instructional, and student care duties as assigned within the special education department. The aide will work under the supervision of the Student Support Interventionist and Coordinator for Early Intervention Services, adhering to federal, state, and local policies. Key responsibilities include assisting with behavioral programs, maintaining student records, supporting intervention plans, and providing direct instruction and behavior intervention strategies to students.

Requirements

College hours (15) or high school diploma or GED (with a passing score of 464 on the ParaPro test)
Ability to work with children with disabilities
Ability to follow verbal and written instruction
Ability to communicate effectively
Knowledge of general office equipment
Accuracy in record keeping and form completion
Ability to keep information confidential
Paraprofessional Educational Aide II certificate required once employed

Nice To Haves

Valid CPI certification preferred (can be obtained after employment)

Responsibilities

Adhere to federal, state and local policies and procedures related to special education.
Participate in planned in-services and professional growth activities.
Assist in carrying out a behavioral program for students.
Assist in maintaining student records.
Coach and model behavioral interventions for specific students in their least restrictive environment.
Assist behavior team with extended modeling and coaching for students with behavioral challenges.
Assist in preparation for ARD meetings.
Assist in collecting and maintaining the student behavior data.
Obtain and maintain Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) certification.
Support the Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs) accepted by the ARD committee.
Provide instruction to students under the supervision of Student Support Interventionist.
Provide behavior intervention strategies under the supervision of the Student Support Interventionist.
Monitor and support the implementation of the Student Support Initiative.
