About The Position

This position supports assigned special education teachers and other certified personnel in implementing the instructional program and support services for at-risk students with social-emotional deficits. The role involves reinforcing instructional activities and social-emotional skills, assisting with lesson preparation and materials, and implementing behavior management techniques. The aide will also assist with students' physical needs, transitions, data collection, and classroom maintenance, as well as participating in meetings and professional development.

Requirements

A high school diploma with at least 60 college hours or an Associate Degree or passing the ParaPro Praxis Exam is required.
Demonstrates competence for assigned responsibilities.
Possesses positive interpersonal relations skills.
Commitment to the importance of confidentiality of records.
Evidence of a strong commitment to quality desegregated education.

Typing ability preferred.

Responsibilities

Reinforces instructional activities and social-emotional skills of at-risk students.
Assists in the preparation of lesson plans and instructional materials.
Assumes responsibility for being prepared to perform instructional duties as prescribed.
Assists with the student's physical needs.
Assists in transitions of students to and from learning sites.
Learns the curriculum content of the classes in which he/she assists.
Implements behavior management techniques.
Assists in data collection.
Assists the teacher with the maintenance of the classroom.
Assist with duties such as lunchroom, recess, bus, etc.
Participates in staffing, faculty meetings, etc.
Completes daily work schedules as assigned.
Performs all other duties as assigned.
Participate in professional development/training for students with disabilities and trauma.
