About The Position

Provide assistance in the classroom as directed by the teacher(s). This role requires adherence to federal, state, and local policies and procedures related to pre-kindergarten programs, participation in professional growth activities, and assisting in carrying out the instructional program. The aide will also help maintain student records, prepare and maintain instructional materials, and assist with teacher-planned activities. A key aspect of the role involves working with individuals and small groups of students to reinforce skills as directed by the teacher, and potentially assisting in administering and scoring objective assessment instruments. Flexibility and the ability to place district goals above personal goals are important, as is establishing and maintaining positive working relationships.

Requirements

  • Proficient in Spanish, both written and oral
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Title I campus: 48 college hours required or a score of 464 on the ParaPro test
  • Ability to work with students and teachers
  • Ability to manage a flexible schedule
  • Paraprofessional aide certificate required once employed

Nice To Haves

  • School office experience or volunteer experience preferred
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Ability to work within deadlines

Responsibilities

  • Assist in preparation, use, and maintenance of instructional materials and equipment.
  • Assist with teacher-planned activities, exercises, and drills.
  • Assist in the teaching/learning process of working with individuals and small groups of students to reinforce skills as directed by the teacher.
  • Attend professional meetings as required.
  • Ability to assist in administering and scoring objective assessment instruments.
  • Ability to maintain flexibility in the performance of required duties.
  • Ability to place district goals above personal goals.
  • Ability to establish and maintain a positive working relationship with others.
  • Supervise individual and small group activities as directed by the teacher.
