About The Position

Assist with In-School Suspension (ISS) and Alternative Education Program (AEP) as assigned. This role requires maintaining strict discipline to provide a controlled learning environment for students. The Aide will manage student attendance and records, supervise student work, administer tests, provide tutoring, and oversee character education activities. Additionally, the Aide will liaise with teachers to obtain and deliver student assignments and maintain confidentiality regarding student participation in ISS. This position is non-exempt and requires 187 duty days per year.

Requirements

  • College hours for Title I campus 48 required or 464 on the ParaPro test
  • College hours, high school diploma or GED for Non-Title I campus
  • Proficient keyboarding, word processing, and file maintenance skills
  • Ability to maintain strict discipline
  • Maintain an effective working environment
  • Communicate and work with students
  • Ability to work independently
  • Experience in working with students
  • Valid Texas educational aide certificate
  • Additional Qualification for Title I Campus: College hours, 48 minimum or score of 464 on the ParaPro test

Responsibilities

  • Keep attendance and records of students entering and leaving the campus ISS.
  • Supervise students’ work which includes administering tests and tutoring, as needed.
  • Oversee character education activities as prescribed by campus administration.
  • Maintain strict discipline in order to provide students with a strictly controlled atmosphere for learning.
  • Assist in obtaining assignments from teachers and delivering student work to teachers.
  • Attend all faculty and in-service meetings.
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding student membership in ISS.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
