About The Position

Charter is seeking an AI & Work reporter to join its editorial team. This role will focus on producing in-depth, practical journalism at the intersection of artificial intelligence and the workplace for a senior business audience. The reporter will also be responsible for moderating and programming virtual and in-person events. This position reports to the managing editor and will collaborate with team members from The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, Quartz, WIRED, and The Atlantic. The role leads coverage of AI's impact on work, workplaces, and leadership, aiming to provide readers with actionable insights and practices. Collaboration with the tech reporting team of The San Francisco Standard is expected, with potential for some coverage to appear in The Standard. The reporter will build relationships with AI executives and experts, evaluate them for speaking roles at events, and help design engaging conversations for a senior business audience. Charter is a trusted reference for navigating AI and work, flexible working, and inclusion, serving over 100,000 executives and decision-makers through its newsletter and events.

Requirements

Experienced with tech and/or business and management coverage
Possessing great reporting skills and editorial judgment
Experienced with public speaking and moderating
Familiar with digital publishing, audience engagement, and social media platforms
Creative and organized
Low ego, high ambition
Passionate about transforming workplaces, with a desire to positively impact how work is done and people relate to one another.

Responsibilities

Report and write for our email newsletter, website, research playbooks, and other offerings.
Produce online articles and newsletters.
Contribute to programming our live events, recruiting speakers and attendees, as well as acting as a moderator for discussions.
Participate in the further evolution of our culture, brand, and offerings.
