About The Position

Reporting to the Chief Innovation Officer (CIO), the AI & Tech Lifeguard helps Springside Chestnut Hill Academy (SCH) faculty, staff, and students use technology effectively while building practical solutions that improve how the school works. As a member of the Innovation Team, this person spends approximately 50% of their time providing technology support and 50% developing automations, integrations, scripts, and AI-enabled solutions. The approximate 50/50 allocation may vary with school needs. The CIO will help establish priorities and dedicated development time to support progress on projects. The ideal candidate brings curiosity, a service mindset, and an interest in making everyday tasks simpler and more efficient. Development work begins under the close technical direction of the CIO. The successful candidate will have experience building small, working solutions and the ability to learn through guidance, experimentation, and feedback. Over the first year and beyond, they will have opportunities to assume greater responsibility for identifying needs and developing solutions from concept through implementation. This is a full-time, 12-month position. We will be reviewing applications on a rolling basis, and this position will start as soon as we identify the ideal candidate.

Requirements

Demonstrated experience building a useful script, automation, integration, AI workflow, AI Agent, or database project. Coursework and personal projects are welcome.
Early-career candidates with relevant coursework, personal projects, internships, or professional experience are encouraged to apply.
Working knowledge of scripting or programming, such as Python, JavaScript, or Google Apps Script.
Foundational understanding of APIs and structured data, with the ability to follow technical documentation and develop integrations with guidance.
Basic database and SQL skills, including retrieving and filtering records.
Ability to test a solution, troubleshoot problems, explain how it works, and incorporate feedback.
Familiarity with Apple computers and Google Workspace sufficient to address everyday support needs.
Strong communication skills, patience, and a commitment to helping people with varying levels of technical confidence.
Ability to balance support requests with project work, communicate priorities and obstacles, and collaborate effectively.
Curiosity, attention to detail, and a willingness to learn new tools and approaches.
The position normally works during regular business hours and occasionally requires early-morning, evening, or weekend support for school events.
Demonstrated sensitivity, knowledge, and understanding of the diverse backgrounds of community members with a continuous focus on healthy relationship building; demonstrated deep understanding of cultural competency skills and enthusiasm for issues of diversity, inclusivity, and multiculturalism.

Nice To Haves

Experience applying AI tools to a real task and evaluating the quality of the results.
Familiarity with version control, automation platforms, or integrations between applications.
Experience with Blackbaud, Jamf, school information systems, or classroom audiovisual technology.
Previous technology support or customer service experience.
Relevant education, technical training, or certifications.
Apple certification is welcome but not required.

Responsibilities

Collaborates with the CIO to understand operational challenges, define requirements, and develop practical solutions.
Builds and maintains scripts and automations that reduce repetitive tasks, manual data entry, and errors.
Connects school applications and systems using APIs and supported integration tools.
Develops AI-assisted workflows using existing models and platforms, evaluating their accuracy, reliability, and usefulness.
Uses database queries to retrieve and analyze information, and assists with data cleanup, reporting, and exchanges between systems.
Tests and troubleshoots solutions before deployment and helps maintain them after launch.
Documents code, configurations, and workflows so colleagues can understand, use, and support them.
Follows school requirements for data privacy, security, and access when handling student, employee, and institutional information.
Communicates progress, raises questions promptly, and helps assess results through time saved, fewer errors, or improved service.
Provides friendly, responsive assistance to faculty, staff, and students through in-person requests, help desk tickets, and remote support.
Troubleshoots common Apple hardware, software, account, and Google Workspace issues.
Collaborates with teammates on complex technical problems and researches unfamiliar issues.
Supports classroom technology, audiovisual equipment, and school applications.
Leads individual and small-group training to help users work confidently with technology.
Documents support resolutions and identifies recurring problems that could benefit from automation, training, or process improvements.
Assists with equipment setup, repair coordination, and technology support for school events.
Participates in Innovation Team activities and completes related responsibilities assigned by the CIO.
