About The Position

Filed is hiring an AI Tax Engineer to bring tax practice expertise into its AI tax preparation platform. Working alongside Filed’s team of CPAs, the role helps define quality standards, shape product direction, and work directly with accounting firms. The position is strategic and involves partnering with product and engineering leaders on the platform’s development, from document intake through tax planning. It is a newly created role with no established playbook, and the responsibilities are expected to grow as the product and tax team develop. The role is based on-site in New York and is full-time, with a base salary of $100,100 to $118,300 per year plus equity.

Requirements

Licensed CPA with at least 5 years of experience.
Based in or able to commute to New York.
Deep experience with at least one of CCH Axcess, UltraTax, Lacerte, Drake, or ProConnect.
Comfortable working across individual and business tax returns, including partnerships and K-1s.
Clear writing skills, including the ability to influence through documents and comments.
Strategic thinking that considers the broader practice behind an individual return.
Ownership and follow-through in addressing problems.
Comfort with ambiguity and working on a fast-moving small team.
Credibility with partners and tax preparers.
Able to explain technical tax positions clearly to people outside tax.
Comfortable challenging others, including Filed.
Interested in how technology can change tax work.

Responsibilities

Serve as a tax expert alongside Filed’s team of CPAs and set quality standards across the products and services Filed delivers.
Partner with product and engineering teams to decide what to build next, from document intake through tax planning.
Work closely with customer firms to understand their practices and translate those needs into product direction.
Help shape the development of Filed’s tax team and, as the product grows, take on broader scope and potentially lead the function.
Clearly communicate technical tax positions through writing and other forms of collaboration.
