About The Position

Encompass is seeking an AI Staff Engineer to join their South Florida-based platform company. This role is central to the company's heavy investment in AI as a force multiplier. The AI Staff Engineer will combine operational discipline with technical creativity, operating cross-functionally across Product, Sales, Marketing, Operations, and Customer Success to accelerate every team through AI. This is a unique opportunity for an individual contributor or team lead who desires autonomy and a broad scope, acting as the central point person for the company's AI transformation. The role involves turning user feedback into shipped features rapidly, driving AI adoption, and building the internal platform to make Encompass an AI-native company.

Requirements

• 5+ years of software engineering experience, with at least 2 years at a Senior / Lead / Staff level shipping production software in a SaaS or platform environment.
• Deep proficiency with at least one modern application stack (e.g., TypeScript/Node, Python, .NET, JVM).
• Demonstrated engineering velocity: ability to ship features end-to-end, from ambiguous ask to deployed product, with efficient scoping, building, testing, and rollout.
• Cross-functional fluency: ability to understand workflows of non-technical roles (sales, marketing, support) and translate them into software.
• Experience with AI coding tools (Claude, Copilot, Cursor, or similar) beyond novelty, with informed opinions on their utility and limitations.
• Strong written communication skills, capable of producing clear one-pagers for executives and detailed specs for engineers.
• Willingness to work full-time in the Fort Lauderdale office.

Responsibilities

• Internal Application Development: Improve applications like Encompass Pulse using AI coding tools to turn user insights into shipped features within days.
• AI Workflow Adoption: Create and drive adoption of AI-forward productivity workflows across all business functions using various AI tools.
• Adoption Analytics & Reporting: Centralize reporting and dashboarding on AI tooling adoption, build leaderboards, identify power users, and report to the C-suite weekly.
• Feature Rollout & Enablement: Roll out new features for Pulse and internal products, creating materials, training plans, and executing them.
• MCP & Platform Engineering: Roll out new features for the Encompass MCP (Model Context Protocol) layer geared toward internal users, maintaining documentation, versioning, and deprecation policies.
• Security & Governance: Strategically drive security posture for safe AI adoption, creating monitoring, guardrails, and data classification policies, co-owning the AI security story with IT and Compliance.
