AI Solution Security Engineer

Google•Chicago, IL
•$147,000 - $210,000

About The Position

Google’s gTech Risk Solutions Engineering team builds contextualized security solutions for the gTech business ecosystem. The team is shifting from reactive manual risk management to proactive, automated prevention and works as a federated security partner to Google’s central security organizations. In the AI Security function, the engineer serves as a core expert in the Functional Engineering pod (Strategy and Design), assessing the security implications of moving gTech operations from human-first to AI-first. The role owns system design for autonomous risk identification, AI guardrails, and vulnerability auto-mitigation. It architects security constraints and validation frameworks—including prompt-injection resilience—for agentic platforms deployed across global configurations, and coordinates with central teams to ensure solutions align with Google’s security policies. The position also produces technical designs for the Operational Engineering (Build) team.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • At least 2 years of experience in security engineering, threat modeling, systems design, or security architecture.
  • Software engineering coding experience in C++, Java, Go, or Python.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree or PhD in Computer Science or a related technical field.
  • Experience designing security controls for large-scale distributed systems or cloud infrastructure.
  • Experience architecting enterprise-scale security tools, access-control systems, or observability platforms.
  • Deep technical understanding of Large Language Models (LLMs), AI security risks such as prompt injection and data poisoning, and deployment of deterministic security harnesses.
  • Strong capability to influence executive engineering partners on critical design decisions.

Responsibilities

  • Design security architecture and validation frameworks for agentic platforms, including prompt-injection resilience and data-flow constraints.
  • Design technical standards and automated workflows for vulnerability auto-mitigation aligned with global SLO timelines.
  • Architect automated access-control systems, integration templates, and data-flow constraints to prevent access abuse and data exfiltration.
  • Develop holistic mappings of agentic threat models and engineering solutions to prevent and detect material risks before they manifest.
  • Align technical architectures with central security design standards and serve as the primary design conduit to central infrastructure.
  • Design precise technical solutions for the Operational Engineering (Build) team to fulfill.
