About The Position

This role is for an AI Software Engineering Lead who will focus on accelerating the adoption of AI within software and firmware teams at Veralto's Water Quality segment. The position involves moving beyond AI theory to build practical tools, proofs of concept, and improve engineering workflows. The lead will act as a hands-on leader and cross-company catalyst, solving high-impact technical challenges with the autonomy of a strategic individual contributor. The work contributes to Veralto's mission of Safeguarding the World’s Most Vital Resources™, specifically focusing on ensuring safe drinking water and promoting a sustainable future. Requirements

  • Principal-level depth in software engineering, firmware engineering, AI engineering, architecture, developer productivity, or a related technical leadership path
  • Hands-on experience applying AI development tools, large language models, RAG approaches, MCP concepts, agentic workflows, coding agents, or AI-powered engineering platforms in real software environments
  • Ability to quickly understand unfamiliar code bases, development environments, and technical constraints, then identify where AI can create practical value
  • Credibility with developers and the technical fluency to coach, prototype, troubleshoot, and lead by example rather than relying only on strategy or presentations
  • Strong communication and change leadership skills, with the ability to influence teams without direct authority and help them adopt new ways of working

Nice To Haves

  • Experience across both software and embedded/firmware development environments
  • Experience with IoT solutions, industrial automation, instrumentation, or connected products
  • Experience leading DevOps, platform engineering, architecture, or developer productivity initiatives
  • Experience implementing organizational change management programs within technology teams
  • Familiarity with water quality, environmental monitoring, laboratory, utility, compliance, or industrial technology markets
  • Understanding of AI governance, security, privacy, and compliant AI development practices

Responsibilities

  • Embed directly with software and firmware teams to identify practical AI use cases, improve workflows, and accelerate adoption
  • Coach developers on AI-assisted coding, testing, documentation, refactoring, debugging, and legacy code modernization
  • Create practical playbooks, prompt libraries, reusable patterns, and engineering standards that make AI adoption easier to scale
  • Support focused AI and software Kaizens, hackathon-style working sessions, and technical workshops that turn ideas into usable solutions
  • Evaluate and champion emerging AI development tools, coding agents, RAG approaches, agentic workflows, and other technologies that improve engineering productivity
  • Build tangible proofs of concept that demonstrate how AI can improve engineering delivery and potentially unlock customer-facing innovation
  • Measure impact through adoption, productivity, quality, DORA metrics, and other practical indicators of engineering improvement
  • Lead through influence across multiple Water Quality operating companies, helping teams see why changing how they work today enables them to move faster tomorrow
