About The Position

J Harlan Group is currently conducting a search for an AI Software Engineer to join the firm's AI Engineering team at a prominent global Investment Manager. This opportunity offers the opportunity to collaborate with talented engineers, product owners, and business partners building high-impact AI products with leverage across the firm. As a Software Engineer on T. Rowe Price Labs' AI Engineering team, you will design, develop, test, and deploy AI agents and intelligent systems, helping move innovative ideas from concept toward enterprise scale. Working in a Build-Operate-Transfer model, you will contribute to incubating new AI products, help harden them for production, and partner with business-aligned technology teams to scale responsible AI solutions across the enterprise. This is a hands-on, end-to-end engineering opportunity with direct responsibility for building modern AI-enabled systems as part of T. Rowe Price Labs' AI Engineering team. You will collaborate in cross-functional squads and contribute throughout the lifecycle—from product incubation and experimentation through production deployment, operation, and eventual transfer to business-aligned technology teams. What makes this opportunity particularly compelling is the combination of strong software engineering and applied AI. The team is building systems incorporating AI agents, agent orchestration, tool integration, retrieval-based systems, prompt engineering, evaluation frameworks, observability, and guardrails. The position is not focused on AI research or training foundation models. Instead, it focuses on practically applying modern AI technologies to build reliable, scalable, production-quality enterprise systems. The firm's AI Labs is focused on building the firm's next generation of data and AI capabilities and developing high-impact technology solutions that can ultimately be scaled across the organization.
